Thanks for also ruining my day.Oh no, he wears 17 because his favorite player is Ryan Kesler
I've changed my mind, this is bad, actually

That Celebrini guy supposed to be any good?
To be honest with you, I've never watched a single Celebrini highlight until about 4:15PM today. Why would I ever watch a future Blackhawk's highlights right? So I really could not give you a scouting report on him until today lol
Now that he's going to be a Shark, we can really be honest with ourselves.Macklin is really, really good. Guaranteed high-end 1C. He probably won’t be a 100 point guy, but he’ll be a 90 point Selke defense center in his prime.
I also didn’t follow him specifically because I didn’t want to face the disappointment of not getting him, but yeah. Really, really good. Completely different level of prospect than Smith, who is also really good.
Well-said.Now that he's going to be a Shark, we can really be honest with ourselves.
Smith had a great year and was a Hobey Baker finalist... on a ridiculously stacked team. He was a PP killer, but took some time to get into the swing of actually driving play at 5v5, and was criticized for drifting and even for being a passenger on his line - debatable, but there was a debate. He's got an elite skillset and he's a great top prospect.
Celebrini did better in counting stats and 5v5 two-way play on a far less stacked BU team, was the clear team driver not just line driver, and rightfully (sorry Cutter) won the HB... at 15 months younger.
Celebrini is absolutely a tier above Smith even if Smith is an incredible prospect. Hopefully Smith, Musty, other prospects, and all the current roster players are stoked right now.
I think he'll be an 100 point guy with the way scoring has been up.Macklin is really, really good. Guaranteed high-end 1C. He probably won’t be a 100 point guy, but he’ll be a 90 point Selke defense center in his prime.

Well, yeah, he looks like Sophia Lillis' twin.Smith is a lot cuter though
14 + 33 could get inside the top 8 you'd thinkNow that we have the center position locked in, I’m more interested in trying to trade up from 14 to snag a D. Having Celebrini accelerates this rebuild quite a bit and getting a top D prospect this year means another step closer to contention.
I watched a bit of him but now that I'm binging the tape again, I wouldn't say he's control-paced. I think he accelerates very well on the rush, has serious wheels, but then in the zone he controls space and time a bit like Smith with deception and creativity but a bit more aggressively so. He's got a high-end shot (not Bedard level of course but easily Smith level or better). And he's very responsible defensively.I also avoided too much Celebrini tape because, there was just no way we got him, well, lol
But in what I have seen he's a methodical, almost slow-paced but more controlled-paced, two way center who can drive play through the neutral zone with the puck on his stick and has a surprisingly accurate shot
He feels like a much higher-end version of Nico Hischier, one who might give you 40 goals instead of 30 at his peak, so not a McDavid or Bedard level of prospect, but sign me up to have that player on my team any day of the week
I did a google search for "Will Smith nhl combine" to try to see his results, and all I got were thirsty tribute vids, so yes.Smith is a lot cuter though
I’m aware. Just hope that we can get 1 of those two in the next 2 drafts. Although, heard others mentioning that Macklin doesn’t count toward the 2 in 5 years. Can't win the lottery more than twice in 5 years thanks to all the Edmonton hand-wringing in the last decade.
Mackdaddy doesn't count. If the Sharks are the presumptive #1 team next season and the season after, and win those lotteries, they still get those 1OA guys.I’m aware. Just hope that we can get 1 of those two in the next 2 drafts. Although, heard others mentioning that Macklin doesn’t count toward the 2 in 5 years.
The 2024 NHL Draft Lottery marked the third year for the implementation of a limit on how many times a team can win a lottery draw. No single team can advance in the draft order by reason of winning a Lottery Draw more than two times in any five-year period. This limitation will not affect a club’s ability to retain its presumptive draft position in any Draft Lottery, nor would it preclude the possibility of the club moving down in draft order to the extent other clubs advance by reason of winning the Lottery Draws.
Trading up is never cheap but at 14 they are very close to Carter Yakemchuk who is big, scored 30g in the WHL and is very physical. Not supposed to go top 10 but the upside is huge. Now that we have the center position locked in, I’m more interested in trying to trade up from 14 to snag a D. For purposes of clarity, the limitation would attach to the team, not the specific pick. An example is outlined here.
They're both pretty cute if we're being realistic. All the high school girls are gonna swoon over these two like they did for Marleau in 2005Smith is a lot cuter though
I feel like if this interpretation is true, then the rule is basically only for the most extreme situations. Say a team finished 2nd-worst for four seasons in a row after winning the draft, then there's a, what, 20-25% chance of them winning two lotteries over the next four years and this rule being enforced?Yeah, I went and checked and right from the NHL website:
So yeah, winning this lottery isn't a strike against the Sharks. They could still pick 1st for the next couple of years, and even beyond that if they were to pick 1st as the worst team in the league. The restriction is simply on moving up via the lottery.
You need to have STH in the first place to renew.I wonder how season ticket renewals are doing now
I imagine he would wear 71.Historical #17 jerseys for the Sharks
One day it'll be Mack Celebrini 2024-2044...
