I mean if we could get a young 2C on a good contract I would definitely consider moving the pick, but I doubt anyone wants Demidov that much
posted about this in another thread, but looking back at all of the recent-ish center trades, they universally did not require a piece nearly as premium as a top five pick. they were multi-piece packages with futures, supporting roster players, and mid/protected first round picks.
(referring specifically to the packages sent for eichel, hertl, horvat, lindholm, trocheck, and the wpg-lak dubois trade)
in other words… why not both? draft demidov, then swing a multi-piece trade (perhaps a bit down the road) to fill the 2C void using less premium pieces. it's feasible that taking a wing at #4 would lead to an end state where they are better off at wing
and center a year from now.
