Take a look at Suzuki's wrister at the begin of the video

Take a look at Helenius' wrister at the 0:35 sec mark. Same motion, same distance.

I am a huge Helenius fan myself, but all analysis I see are rather high on the floor low on the ceiling. Maybe he drops outside top 10 like Lundell.

What a ridiculous post.

The idea isn't that we're hiring a staff writer. We're also not drafting a 13, 14, 15, or 16 year old, for the record. The idea is that a joke about a swastika or a nazi doesn't make you a bad person, racist, or anything close. It's so intellectually lazy that it's a bore to even argue against.
kid who used a racial slur against an opponent, where there's video of the player having to be consoled by his coach, draws a swastika a year later - "doesn't mean he's racist and you're intellectually lazy to argue it".

At 5-6-7 for our Habs....imo:

Lindstrom (center)
Iginla (center/winger) or Parekh (super-skilled dman/STAR potential)
Parekh or Iginla
.
(If it's Tij Iginla...I hope he will be a CENTER and not a winger for our Habs ; and Lindstrom..I'm guessing he goes 2nd or 3rd or 4th...I could be wrong! I hope he's available, of course, at our pick). I'm so greedy for our Habs!! (I want TWO..not only one!! Lindstrom and Parekh OR Iginla and Parekh!!).

P.S: does anyone know if Tij Iginla is (currently) playing CENTER in the playoffs? (happening now). Thanks in advance for any info. Cheers

We really need to loose against OTT tonight to secure the #5 spot...

I've decided that if Levshunov is available and Celebrini + Demidov are off the board we should take him

Guhle-Levshunov
Hutson-Reinbacher
Xhekaj-Maiiloux

run it
This would be a awesome lineup on D

Michkov didn't fall because of the Russian factor, he fell because he signaled the teams that where not the Flyers that he wasn't interested in them and refused to talk to scouts during the season.

There has been zero talk of Demidov doing the same so far.
Also Demidov did not signed in the KHL so he would be available to come in North America next year, I am wrong on this ?

Saw Mailloux in Laval recently, not sold on the guy. Not sure he is a quality NHL D. Hopefully I am wrong and it was just a bad game, but hockey sense does not stand out.

Reinbacher looked better, and he's 2 years younger.

I am on board to pick a D, but my favorite is Dickinson. He'll be a stud.

I’m big Demidov fan too, he’s certainly my #2….wonder if Russian factor comes in to play this year the way it did with Michkov?

Buuim solid too
History is undeniable one Nationality leads all others with ranked players who slide for whatever reason. AINEC

Lindstrom will not play center in the NHl. I would be surprise if it's the case. Low IQ and vision.

I could be wrong cause Jeff Carter plays center and he has an really average vision.

In fact a lot of posters says that Catton will not play center at the next level because of his size...they are might be right but I feel the same with Lindstrom for other reasons

Agree with Mailloux. He lost his focus so many times on the ice 5 vs 5 on coverage etc.

In French we says: Il tombe dans la lune souvent. Don't know the English expression

Yep, Thats my comparison, I would say Helenius is a better skater than Suzuki was in juniors, he is also more advanced in his development at 17 than Suzu was.
I really liked Helenius a lot when I did see him play. Which I'll admit isn't that often.
What I did see was a guy who was often the most influential player on the ice for either team.
That speaks volumes for a kid his age when looking at details other than production.
Like Suzuki if something was happening it was going to be happening around him.

Helenius would be a good pick if we can move up with our 2nd 1st.

Damn I forgot how good Suzuki was on that left side. Jesus Caufield get out of the way. :sarcasm:

None of these kid's ceilings are remotely a certainty and ceiling is not solely about points as most fans commonly state. Ceiling from an NHL team's perspective is about being a difference maker. Guys like O'Reilly, Kopitar, Bergeron and Stone have reached higher ceilings than many other flashier players who are defensive nightmares and playoff duds.

Who is to say that if Helenius played on a CHL team that pushed him to play more offensively that we wouldn't see an entirely different narrative around him. I suspect that he has already eliminated the pond hockey tactics that the other kids are flashing but will also eventually have to lose.

The WJC is a near meaningless tournament due to it being way too short and kids from different teams have huge advantages and disadvantages depending on who they are playing with and against. I love watching it but have learned my lesson from trying to draw any meaningful conclusions other than from truly dominant performances that do not appear to be dependant in any way on outliers and luck.
Its the highest stakes in hockey, probably higher than the Stanley cup finals even. It's asinine to call it meaningless.

Yes, not Suzuki. Suzuki is wiring these shots against NHL level competition and has been doing so since his rookie year. It's not a strength thing either, even if it plays into it. Suzuki has one of the best shot on the planet, if he were to re-enter the draft as a 17 years old again, he'd be ranked around in the top 3 firmly in skill level, don't let the fact he went 13th in 2017 confuse you, Suzuki was a top prospect, and he rose up from mid 2nd-3rd rounder to top 13 in what remains as a top draft of the decade. Not only that, but Suzukis shot versatility is just through the roof, Helenius hasn't displayed that.

With that said, as I said earlier, Helenius is a great prospect and I wouldn't even be mad if they picked him. His value lies in other things than having "high-end" abilities (Though I do think his IQ is high-end, this can compare to Suzuki.), it lies in him bringing above average tools to the table all over the board, in that sense, Hischier, Suzuki are good comparisons.

You just used the word asinine after typing one of the most asinine statements I've ever seen on this board. No one cares about the WJC outside of Canada. TSN hyped it to infinity but it's already losing a lot of lustre.

Yeah, you may as well retire if you don't win the WJC gold since it's the highest stakes in hockey. What's the point in even playing for a guy like Reinbacher who has no chance at accomplishing that?

Levshunov will be gone for sure. There's no way all of San Jose, Chicago, Anaheim pass on him. They all could really use a top RHD as well.

Obviously one team will win the lottery and pick Celebrini, but I could see all other teams except for Columbus pick a defenseman. So 1st will pick forward, Columbus will pick forward, and Montreal gets to pick the 3rd forward. If Columbus wins the lottery, I could see Montreal picking the 2nd forward. Ottawa could pick a forward as well, Arizona/Utah won't.

Beside Celebrini ,, who else could start in the NHL next year ?

Levshunov ?
Buium ?
Demidov ?
Catton ?

If you looked at Benson that started this year , these guys have the potential as well.

Could start or should start?

I think it's more likely that you could possibly see guys like Helenius or MBN. Helenius because of the IQ, complete game, and performance against men. MBN because of the tools, solid two-way play, and pro experience.
