If you like Eiserman and you're seeing his stock is dropping and your targets above him are gone, would you trade back to get an extra pick, or two and see if he's there then, or just take him at 5/6/7/ wherever the Habs finish ?
This Top 10 seems really unpredictable, more so than previous years. I would just take the player I want, the Habs have another 1st this year and next year they have two picks in each of the 1st and 2nd round and 3 picks in the 3rd. There really isn’t a need for more.

With Eiserman it’s likely that teams will either love him or hate him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he went 3rd and I wouldn’t be surprised if he went 13th.

Because not all humans have the same ability to gain weight given their skeleton type.
Catton is a small built. You can't just name names and compare them given their height, doesn't work.

Keller is pretty tick naturally in the lower part of his body, same with Point.
Kucherov had big bones for his size, Russians can nearly all add 20-30 pounds.

Catton is a small bones, Leblanc style.

Plus something to know here:
Combine weight tends to be playing weight, or a bit more.
When you say Keller is 179, that's his training camp weight (or summer weight), he's probably 172-174 at this point in the season (in March). Catton will show 15-20 pounds from summer weight as well. I think he'll gain 10 lbs of playing weight in the next 5-7 years. He might ultimately add a few more.
How can you possibly gauge that? Have you given him a physical? Did he send you a picture of him doing the vitruvian man naked?

I guess it depends who's off the board, how many picks we move back and what the compensation is.

Like if we were picking 7th and Demidov, Lindstrom and one of Catton/Iginla/Helenius is off the board then I probably wouldn't want to drop back 2 spots at that point.

Not 2024 related, but here's a look at the next exceptional status player coming into the CHL .

Hopefully he doesn’t end up like Sean Day. It seems tougher to evaluate a defender that age than it is a forward.

He's doing it with pure skills, so he is a bit of a different beast from the usual early growth spur types like Ekblad and Day. I definitely like what I see, but it's still going to be real hard for a small-ish 15 year old kid .

I hope Sacha Boiverst is gonna available if we keep WPG pick
Do you know much about him? I’m wondering how a kid from Trois-Rivières ended up going to the US. Did his parents start working there or they specifically sought out an hockey academy?

We know Andrew Berkshire won’t be happy if it’s the latter

Somehow I'm feeling better about this draft resulting in a good player than last 2 even if we end up picking 7th. The consensus players all seem like good choices if we don't win 1st overall. We could use any of Demidov/Lindstrom/Dickinson/Levshunov/Iginla/Parekh/Eiserman

Really hope Habs can get a Dallas type 2017 draft. Even Dallas 2021 draft.

Great kid ! I’ve heard only positive things about him. He would have been the 1st pick OA at the 2022 QMJHL draft he wasn’t going to the states.

He went to the Denis Francoeur academy who is reputed brings a lot of QC player in the NCAA

Unlike last year, I don't mind us not having our own 2nd this time around. It's a struggle to come up with 30+ names I actually like.

On another note, Artamonov's season in the KHL is getting way too overlooked. I don't see why he shouldn't be at minimum a lottery pick.

I'd place him in my favorite ten as well based on limited viewings, one of those "good hockey player" types who is likely downgraded in scouting circles because of circumstance and what he isn't (physical freak).

For me, Iginla and Lindstrom are probably the two forwards I want the most. I keep reading that Eiserman's draft stock is dropping. I don't know enough to know why, but a natural goal scorer like him isn't easy to find.
Eiserman is dropping because outside of his shot, the rest has big question marks on how it will translate to the pros.

Again, are you drafting a player based on their draft rank projection or their potential?
Are you fixated that much on draft ranking or the ability of the player?
With Berkly Catton, I already told you, he will most likely not even be a top 10 draft selection come draft time Does that mean he stinks? No. Does it means all NHL teams don't like him? No. Does it mean he is a bust? No. It means NHL teams want more projectable prospect and are more risk averse when selecting in the top 10.
The weak frame, lack of power and physical engagement, the question marks regarding his abilities to play under tight checking will make him drop. I mean, can you foresee Catton playing teams like Vegas, Boston ect? How softer can we get as a team? Catton will drop because GMs and scouts dont value talent alone, there is much more when it comes to players evaluation and Catton comes with some red flags you cant ignore.

The article on TheAthletic on him is quite revealing. Some teams will say "I can change him" and see in him a potential star, and some others will just consider him a DND.

And while we now have a respectable player development program, i'm not sure AT ALL that the habs will be in the former group. After more than two seasons now, it has become obvious it takes a certain type of players to really flourish under MSL tutelage. Look at Anderson for the example of a guy who just isn't made for that.

The way I read it, Eiserman is just not "wired" to be a MSL guy, amazing shot or not.

Demidov and Catton are two forwards I'd be happy with.

And with this draft being heavy on D, the likelihood one of those 5 forwards will be available when the Habs pick is high.
As much as I like the idea of Eiserman’s goals, I love the idea of Lidstrom. I’d be really really happy that kind of player in our lineup.

I think the opposite. When a player has a higher number of goals vs assist, it’s telling me that guy is able to score, the most difficult thing to do in the NHL. Instead, sometime some players have a really high number of assist, but most of the time, those guys are playing on a Ridiculous powerfull team, then any assist are easier to get.
Assists are easier to get, if he is scoring and not getting any assists there might be some thing wrong. Seem to me that a lot of those guy aren’t translating to the NHL or unidimensional.
Team strength, 5on5/PP, TOI, teammates, S% and strength of competition those circonstance of how he is getting the point it is important to look at but if you see a guy with 15g 45a vs. 45g 15a I know the 2nd can score but it also that raise more questions.

Even more telling is the article in question is by his biggest fan, Scott Wheeler, and even he’s like “yeah he has a lot of work to do”. Which is fine, for a mid 1st rounder. But for a Top-10 pick? I’d personally look for someone more well-rounded.
