Dickinson won't be available. There's a chance he's the first defenseman off the board.

Yakemchuk is the other defenseman who may go ahead of where we pick.
Dickenson might pretty well be there at our spot, he is a safe bet to be a solid top 3, but his offensive celling lower than some others. After Silayev, thats oranges and apples for me, it could go in any directions as far as the Ds are concerned. Even Silayev could drop for geopolitic reasons and his 3 yrs contract left in russia.

As for Catton, 3 pts night last night, but his tenure in the defensive zone was total mess once again, just very low compete level out there.

Video of Catton incoming in the next week probably, I will point out the good and the less good in his game and the second part wont be pretty I can already tell you that.

I really like Dickinson......There, I said it.

I'm not saying we should draft him, but I wouldn't be that disappointed if we did. That kid has future captain written all over him (Plus he's already a Habs fan, how can you not like that?)

The first 6 players off the board should be:

Celebrini

and then the next 5 in no particular order

Dickinson
Demidov
Levshunov
Silayev
Lindstrom
I can't see anyway Habs pass on Dickinson at 7. He's #1 D. Days of Timmins runing the draft are done! He passed on more skilled players like Tkachuk and drafted for need. It rarely works out.

Dickinson Checks all the boxes. Even Pietrangelo never had his numbers his draft year. The guy going to be a stud. Either that or trade the pick for massive haul. Many GMs would like stud D at 18 years old. Many bidders

I just listened to Pronmans athletic spot, he's gotten great connections lately and he said that Dickinson will be very high next time through and there's an increasing belief he can go as the first defenseman off the board.

As for Catton, you and I will disagree. That's fine. I disagree with you on Silayev as well, I don't think he is anywhere near as good as his projection seems to be. But again, that's fine, diversity in belief on scouting prospects is what makes it fun and makes the draft interesting.

I respect your opinion even if it doesn't align with mine. There's a chance I'm wrong on Catton and you're wrong on Silayev and we both can be right and wrong lol

I'd pick Dickinson from 5 to 7, no issues there. Just tell your left dmen in your farm they need to put in double time, if they don't want to get passed over.

I’m not saying pass on a forward if he’s the best guy, just saying we should take the best guy whether forward or dman. Also do think we have some nice young middle 6 types already in Heineman, Beck, RHP etc

I’m just on the BPA bandwagon like usual.
I think you’re way overrating our forward prospects. It’s a very weak group. Even Beck I’m not sold on.

Exactly. Good prospects and for some teams could be BPA, but with the way our prospect pool is currently lopsided and the gluttony of excellent forwards available in the range we should be picking - it’s a no brabrainer
nobody in our pool can do what Parekh does and nobody has the offense and defense of Buium. We need to stop relying on Mailloux, Barron, Hutson, etc. Draft BPA.

Parekh is 5x better than Mailloux offensively at the same age.

In fact..at 17 years he destroys Mailloux's numbers when Mailloux was 19..in the OHL.

..and it's not like Mailloux was good defensively either..

In fact..I am not even sure at all that we have a real number one defenseman so far with Guhle, Mailloux, Reinbacher and Hutson..

For example , at the draft at 7th..it would be a toss up for me between Catton and Parekh

I just hope that if Habs draft a D, it's going to be between Dickinson, Leshunov, Buium, Parekh and Yakemchuk.

Please, god please, don't be that tall guy russian, Anton Silayev, that would be the biggest stupid thing I will never see. If Habs draft this guy, I'm going to be really really mad and Hfboard's will going to know about that.

I hope it doesn't happen. HFB doesn't need a broken Kev.

Don’t think it’s even worth discussing Catton in here. His profile doesn’t fit whatsoever with what Bobrov and Hughes want in a player, especially Top 10 pick. Habs are way more likely to take Iginla or MBN over him.

If they take MBN with their high pick in top 10, I will never watch hockey again.

Catton have much more potential than MBN.

You're such a happy-go-lucky guy, now I want the Habs to draft Silayev just so I can see what a very very angry KevSkillz4 looks like.

Okay, just telling you to be prepared because there’s no shot they take Catton.

They were closer to picking Cooley than Wright. Don't think the guys close to the Habs discussing Catton would be doing that if they thought there's 0 chance.

I also disagree there's 0 chance. He's competitive. He scores in big moments and he's one of the most talented prospects. They liked Will Smith.

So funny to see posters saying that Catton is not an option at all...why...?? Cause he is not 6.0 f... feet tall.....hilarious..

The dude will finish the season with 50 to 55 goals and 110 points..in the Whl...but he is not 6.0 feet tall.

Yeah, but this is one of the worst seasons for goaltending & D that I've seen in WHL in a long time. If you're not getting at least 1.5 pts per game you probably suck. Pretty much all the top players are at 2 pts per game or higher. It's 80s hockey. That goes for all WHLers not just Catton.

Goaltending is absolute trash most nights even for junior hockey, and there's no stud Ds.

OHL is far & away the best junior league right now.
