Any forward in the draft who can help us right away?
Demidov and Celebrini.

Realistically no though, Demidov will stay one more year and Celebrini is out of reach. The Habs arent competing next year, theres no rush. Lindstrom and Eiserman may be the closest of the next forwards. Catton/Iggy/Helenius after.

I kinda like the idea of drafting Boisvert around WPG pick. I recently saw a quote from him saying his aim is to become the best from the draft down the line.
I remember that was part of the reasoning behind the Slaf pick, that drive to improve and getting the better player after 5+years, not necessarily on year 1.
Just a hunch, who knows!

Can someone explain why Buium is ranked so low despite unprecedented production for his age? He's not even a smurf like Hutson. Is his defensive game apocalyptically bad?
Scouting lag. Scouting bias. Good draft class at the top. The Silayev love affair.

His defensive play is that of an 18 YO player. Hes good but he has things to work on. He gets lost when there's too much movement in his zone and he does the usual misreading. His stick is great though, hes pretty relentless and his skating edges allow him to be very good in corners. A lot like Subban? If you will.

He plays an unsustainable offensive game, not unlike Levshunov and Parekh. All three play insanely slanted towards offense, they go deep in the zone and they do it often. Its not a bad thing for me, especially pre-NHL. Limit testing is so important. Trad scouts will see this as a negative though. He was 5'10 last year, its likely theres lingering bias of him being small.

Hes not a bad skater dont listen to anyone that will tell you otherwise. That nerd shit about mechanics completely misses the mark and would have you believe the human body is made out of a template, its nerds that dont know anything about kinesiology that try to sound smart.

His shot isnt his best weapon.

His offensive production is impacted a lot by his team, although hes one, if not the reason why Denvers so good.

I think that is someone they would like.. great frame, great skills, just gotta fix the feet and skating mechanics.

Boisvert and Sennecke are two guys I think they'd like.. Michael Hage is another one.

Yeah when I read this quote I said to myself, this guy is trying to slide in HuGo's DMs so bad
"PICK ME" neon sign if I've ever seen one

Yeah and I think the Habs brass isn't interested in Zegras, anyway.

McKeens mid-season 32
  1. Macklin Celebrini
  2. Sam Dickinson
  3. Ivan Demidov
  4. Anton Silayev
  5. Cayden Lindstrom
  6. Berkly Catton
  7. Artyom Levshunov
  8. Konsta Helenius
  9. Cole Eiserman
  10. Zayne Parekh
  11. Carter Yakemchuk
  12. Tij Iginla
  13. Liam Greentree
  14. Trevor Connelly
  15. Zeem Buium
  16. Michael Brandsegg-Nygard
  17. Adam Jiricek
  18. Jett Luchanko
  19. Matvei Shuravin
  20. Michael Hage
  21. Alfons Freij
  22. Emil Hemming
  23. Ryder Ritchie
  24. Sacha Boisvert
  25. Harrison Brunicke
  26. Andrew Basha
  27. Henry Mews
  28. Dominik Badinka
  29. Beckett Sennecke
  30. Igor Chernyshev
  31. EJ Emery
  32. Leo Sahlin Wallenius

Hopefully Habs are watching Chernysov. I'd love him with Winnipeg's pick, but I also think he won't be there.

In that case, any one of Boisvert, Basha, Sennecke, Lucas Pettersson (C), or Simon Zether (C) would be fine too.

For draft guru out there, if Habs is picking 9/10 and Iginla is available, should we draft him? At 9/10, should we pick another player if that player is also available?
I think most here would agree to consider him, but if we fall to 9/10 it's because teams like CGY will have outsucked us, and I don't see them passing on him, so it's kind of an unlikely scenario

I like all of those guys except for Zether.. don't think he's a 1st rounder, personally.

He's more likely to go early 2nd, but he won't be there for Colorado's 2nd round pick, so if you like him...kind of like Toronto with Cowan last draft.

He's a 6'3 scoring center, so he could very well go late 1st.

Gotta stan for my guy Letourneau instead.. go for the big project who could pay off massively.

At this point, absolutely. Imagine drafting Lindstrom AND Iginla!?

That would be climactic as f***.

Like in 2022 when Bettman goes : we have two trade to announce and they involve Montreal!

We were all losing our mind like holy shit he is moving up for Wright!

I could envision such a scenario in 2024, we move up and Tij is still on the board, and we pay the price.

And then Hughes goes : With our 2nd 1st pick tonight, we are proud to select... Aaron Kiviharju!

Habs only 2nd round pick is the Avs one, won't allow to move up the draft that much. And I doubt anything left to trade can bring back another 2nd this year.

What about those 6 picks in round 5-6-7, having the Nhl records for the most 7th rounders in a draft must be of some value

It is top 10 protected, but it sure looks like Pens will hand them 12-13th pick overall. San Jose should get 2 really good players out of this draft.
Damn, I was hoping to get that out of Pens. Maybe next year.

I doubt we draft Buium, he's left shot D

Think they would take Misa? What I seen this year I call him as good as Mesar despite 2 years younger.

Celibrini could have a similar career path as MacKinnon.
This may be a hot take but I don't think, besides maybe the odd season, that celebrini will ever seriously compete for the Hart. However I do think he'll win a few selkes. Imo he just doesn't have that dynamic offence touch that a McDavid, MacKinnon or Bedard have. He'll probably be closer to having a Bergeron type career than MacKinnon which imo is better for whichever team he's on

At this point nobody knows.

MacKinnon was hyped a lot but there was some people doubting him too. He was consensus #1 but he took some years to reach his full potential. He is not a similar player than Celebrini but I think Macklin can become that rare franchise center that every team want. Although a bit different.

I do too. I'm very high on him. I think his style as a no.1 is more conducive to winning than MacKinnon. But the Hart is all about points. I don't see celebrini ever being a top 3 point getting in the league but I do see him being an elite 2 way player who puts above PPG which is better than a 110 pt player who can't play defence
