This Eagles defense is on par with the 2000 Ravens

I just made that comparison to one of my friends. I was the only idiot at my middle school wearing Giants gear despite the loss that day.

That Ravens D was better IMO. If not for the kick return TD it would've been a shutout. Philly's D is really good though.

Eagles defense always flipped games, they were elite in the pass and run in a harder era to play defense with the bullshit flags/PI's. Eagles defense arguably won this game, the Rams game, Packers game. 3 out of 4 in the playoffs is incredible. Only thing the Eagles defense doesn't have compared to that Ravens team is the Hall of Fame talent.

my twin girls are 3.5 months old, and already have a Super Bowl win

I am 38 and haven't even seen my team PLAY in one!!

I'd act like a fool with a Jets playoff home win, the world would probably end up with the Jets or Dolphins in the Super Bowl lol

chiefs so close to three in a row....im guessing this really hurts.

They're probably done, the OL is cooked, the weapons are done and the worst thing is Mahomes looked human all regular season and in this game.

Nah not even close, the Chiefs offensive line is just that bad. Washington and the Rams scored some points - so did the Chiefs technically. The Ravens gave up like 13 points on defense in three playoff games.

Again, they played in a completely different era where hitting/PI's weren't called every 5 seconds. Maybe you can't compare them at all in that regard then but this Eagles defense needs to be considered in very high territory when we talk about legendary NFL defenses imo.

Even by ‘modern’ standards the Eagles are fine, they don’t stand out - I mean the Bucs beat Rodgers, Brees and Mahomes in one playoffs, destroying the latter just as badly as today and I don’t think they’re an all time defense either although you could make more of a case.

While the Ravens and ‘85 Bears clearly stood out head and shoulders above their contemporaries

This Eagles defense were also top 5-10 in every defensive category besides 4th down %, they're legendary and flipped multiple regular season/playoff games for them. The Bucs had weak spots in their secondary too, elite run D. They were probably a lite version of this Eagles D

If anything the Eagles offense is closer to legendary given the way they played, especially the last two weeks tbh

Blowing out Washington is not an accomplishment for how good this Philly team is, it's the football equivalent of what Tampa Bay did to us in 2018 in the Hall MVP year. And this game was 10-0 with Chiefs having the ball before DeJean pick 6 with Hurts looking shaky a bit after starting strong. The Eagles offense is very good but the Eagles defense was better this year in every facet from start to finish. It's not even close lol. The only game They only gave up 30+ points once this year and it was Jayden Daniels having an absurd game and only gave up 25+ twice with the aforementioned game and the Brazil turf being dogshit v the Packers with guys flying every which way.

The curse of a sports team trying to win three championships in a row and then the law of averages come into play.

Tampa couldn't do it in the NHL and now we see the Chiefs failing in their attempt.
There’s a reason nobody’s done it in the NFL in sixty years, the last time started before the SB was even a thing and nobody’s done it in the NHL for over forty years. MLB it’s happened once in the last fifty years. The NBA is the outlier, it can happen if you have the best coach/players.

i found a box of old SI magazines about ten years ago. the bears/pats super bowl preview and bears victory issues were in it. took them and left the rest... some good stuff on the D in them. ill post a few shots sometime

Luckily it seems like most people stayed home. It's empty here. I hope they remember this when the Devils are in the SCF.

Yeah I don't get how the Eagles just have all of these amazing players fall into their lap every year. Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper Dejean, they always leave the draft with at least two first round talents no matter how many picks they have.

Saquon and AJ Brown just show up? That's cool. Baun scrubs out of the league? Nahh, let's sign him cheap and get one more All-Pro year out of him somehow. No idea how they do this.

Beyond elite coaching from their coordinators in Kellen Moore/Vic Fangio and system buy in. Their defense had the same sort of no names in 2017 as well starting for them. They had Nigel Bradham starting at LB, I'm sure you remember that dude being mediocre on Buffalo lol. Their drafting is also beyond elite, Quinyon Mitchell played like baby Revis most of this year and he was a rookie corner for f***s sake lol. College scouting deserves a tremendous credit as well as their pro scouts, more so the former because the latter also thought it was smart to sign Bryce Huff who was a healthy inactive yesterday lol

That city sold its soul for the Eagles to win this year and 2017. Not sure they care anyway since the Eagles will be far away the #1 loved team there

Dejean and Mitchell falling to them was unreal.

Their coaching is next level though, Jeff Stoutland is up there with Donte Scarnecchia as one of the greatest o-line coaches ever.
