OT: 2024 NFL/NCAA/HS Football Thread

I was cheering for the Eagles to win until my mom raised a very good point: if Mahomes won it would put him on the inside track to overtake Tom Brady as the GOAT QB, and she knows how much I hate Brady. She knows me better than I know myself. Unfortunately by then it was too late.

However, that will come in time. This is a temporary setback.

That pizza looks like it's from L&B Spumoni Gardens, which is ironic since it says Brooklyn Square on the side. Looks elite
My party had a square pizza from some place that had sauce I didn't like. Honestly I was thinking of L&B when I was eating it. There was one from a different place that had a bunch of meats on it. That was much better.

Then there was an unholy abomination of a pizza that they sell only on the Super Bowl at one place. It has hot dogs, cheeze wiz, corn chips, pigs-in-a-blanket crust, and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't belong on a pizza. They had it last year and I refused to eat it. I refused to eat it this year. I'm going to refuse to eat it whenever I see it in the future.

I'm a bit biased since I grew up on L&B as a kid and even now as an adult, I can probably house like 3-4 slices and eat the whole pie as leftovers but yeah I can understand people thinking it's overrated lol. Pizza is the one thing I can usually eat wherever it's from since it's so hard to mess it up in this area specifically lol

The big edge for the Eagles was play on the line of scrimmage. They rushed and beat the living shit out of Mahomes like I never imagined possible by rushing only 4 linemen, which left sufficient guys in zone coverage to fully neutralize Mahomes.

Those 4 defensive linemen should collectively have gotten the Lombardi trophy or whatever they call it that they gave to Hurts.

I’ve never seen a better game by a front 4 on D. The 2 interceptions that turned into TDs (pick 6 included) and the strip sack and . . . What KC had 25 yards of offense in the first half ?

Happy to see Mahomes’ hybris get taken down.

Game also reminded me of so many blowout super bowls - it used to be the rule. Remember when Seattle destroyed Indianapolis at Giants stadium.

Not sure if it was mentioned, so long to Rodgers.

He'll probably go have a 2009 Favre year elsewhere while we toil with Tyrod for 2 years.

the Eagles did not blitz one time last night. Think about that and think about how often Mahomes was running for his life.

Mahomes was absurdly mediocre this year too. Game was finished after the DeJean pick 6, I had no faith Chiefs would score 17 on the Eagles starters after that.

Honestly, I would have brought him back. Who else is even available? Russell Wilson?

It was Seattle against Denver, but don't remind me lol.

Matthew Stafford I believe has been rumored to be on the block.

Giants could transform their team overnight by trading their first for Stafford + Kupp but that's probably way too risky for NYG and they will most likely go the 'safe' route and sign someone like Baker Mayfield to a 1 or 2 year deal.

Guys like Jameis, etc.

It's probably going to be Tyrod + Jordan Travis probably

Ah so more crap.

Baker is signed for a couple more years with Tampa and he would probably want to stay there anyway.

Yeah but they're not competing in 2025 regardless, Rodgers dead cap would've been abysmal. It's whatever. It's just kicking the can down the road for another reset. Jets are just getting ahead of it. Now it's the f***ing Jets, will it work out? Probably not but they're doing it logically imo

I hear ya. I don't understand the dead cap comment though and I have heard this before. There would have been dead cap if they signed Rodgers?

The best part of my night, besides Drake getting shat on

Looks good! I hosted, but didn’t think to take a picture of my spread.

We did kind of a mix of Tex-Mex and American comfort food: salsa roja, pico de gallo, guacamole, refried beans, queso, and chipotle crema with loaded nachos, molletes, Mac and cheese, wedge fries, and chili. All homemade.
