OT: 2024 NFL/NCAA/HS Football Thread

Egregious to go back to the well on a play that wasn’t working. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. What’s wrong with a handoff to Cook in this spot?! KC had no answers for him. The dude had 20 TDs. Buffalo only has themselves to blame.

My bad. Then it’s the OC who is a brain dead lol

Yeah I mean, the thought process is probably live and die by Allen but at the same time if something isn't working stop trying to abuse it. Cook was awesome tonight as he was all year.

I couldn’t be more impressed by Cook. His ability to find small holes and accelerate through them is terrific. He has some serious jets. That was one helluva effort on the TD he scored. His brother was great but I dare say he could be even better.

I don't know if the refs want KC to threepeat but they sure as f*** want them in the Super Bowl with all the hype TravTay gets them.

Would also be nice if the Bills stop running that same god damn sneak the Chiefs are clearly onto, or didn't chase points absurdly early.
Even if they just went the opposite way it would've made sense. Running the same thing when they know it's coming and are lined up for it doesn't make sense, you're right.

Buffalo lost that game on the Josh Allen sneaks like 4-5 times where he was short and then called it again on the big 4th that was controversial. Why not do the play that they scored on with the double option with Cook?

You're missing what he's saying, it's actually better for Buffalo they called that. If they call the hold, Buffalo isn't touching the ball before half and the Chiefs probably get a FG, at the worst, maybe a TD with 15-20 seconds left after melting down the clock and Buffalo is down even more with Chiefs getting rock out of half. Buffalo went down and scored which actually helped them a ton and that call didn't matter.
And for the third time, I know lol I watched the game. It wasn’t the right call by the refs. I don’t see how that can be ruled a catch when it’s

A.) its an incomplete pass

or

B.) if they deemed it caught before hitting the ground then its an interception as the Bill player “caught” it.

Idk how they can review that and call it a catch. Its a horrendous call. Thats all I am saying on that particular play. I know it benefited the Bills afterwards. It doesn’t take away another incorrect call that was made by the refs.

That's not the rule. A jump ball that's being fought for always goes to the offense. Elam has it pinned on his forearm, it touches the ground but the ref deems that ball is secured but he's also probably letting the play go as they do now since they have the ability to replay and it didn't egregiously hit the ground. Worthy starts fighting for it as soon as he rolls onto his body and therefore it's a tie on a jump ball. That play happens once or twice a game and usually gets called the same way it did tonight.

There’s no way that’s a catch. Im with Romo and others. It should have been deemed no catch after the review.

I mean as Jets fan, both of these teams consistently get some horse shit calls. I have no sympathy for Buffalo. 4 tries and you can't get one win against said team, it's on them at some point. Also the Eagles got a game changing call too on the AJ Brown catch on 4th down when Commanders were down 2 on a blatant Saquon hold that wasn't called, maybe the leagues's fans need to realize the refs are incompetent as a whole instead of some Chiefs conspiracy.

Such a frustrating game. The two failed 2 point conversions by Buffalo, and KC efficiently making their own 2 pointer, were also major turning points.

Buffalos play calling when they kept on trying that QB sneak even after it was clear that KC had it sussed was an unforgivable failure to adjust to what was happening on the field. Maybe fake the sneak there and take advantage of KC overplaying it? Or (as you suggest) go to Cook, whom they never did stop? Anyway, don’t just keep beating your head against the wall.

The key sequence in the end was just before the 2 minute warning when KC’s blitzes and coverages completely stoned Allen. They had their shot there but didn’t really threaten.

The curse of Jim Kelly continues. This Bills team isn’t beating Mahomes.

I understand where you're coming from man, I'm just saying how the NFL rules it. At the end of the day, it doesn't truly matter since there was a penalty on said play and it probably helped Buffalo but refs can't be blamed if that's the consistent call being made week to week.

I hate this goddamn league, man. We can’t have good story lines or fun narratives for even one year. The NFL smears our faces in shit constantly and we eat it up.

If it wasn’t for the friends’ place I go to every year for the Super Bowl (one of whom is a Chiefs fan who hasn’t gotten over his self loathing and fear of the other shoe dropping), I wouldn’t bother watching.
Sadly these bro types are the new wave pf populism. From entertainment to sports and now leaching into politics
At least we got Ravens superfan Stavros Halkias out of the deal. Very funny guy but he has a heart (which will likely give out in a couple of years).

You know that scene in Megamind where the villain voiced by Jonah Hill says that he hasn't saved anyone, he's just new management? That's the Chiefs.

I will say this: when the Chiefs win, it really annoys me. But when the Patriots won, it felt like God had forsaken humanity. I think that's because Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are just more likeable than Brady and Belichick. Especially Mahomes, who looks like a Muppet and talks like Kenny Powers.

As a Jets fans I am personally thrilled the Chiefs are wiping the Patriots and Belichick’s legacy off the table. I’m also not going to root for a Philly team. Go Chiefs!

Rooting for KC because they're playing the Eagles, but really would've liked to see Buffalo finally get a championship.
