RedSoxStats was saying there is some scuttlebutt about Adam Duvall on a minor league deal

overall numbers were bad last year but he still mashed LHP (and was impossibly bad against RHP)

Hey, i hear we are in on Randall Grichuk haha. The cheap scum ownership has once again found its level.
To be honest, Randall Grichuk was probably the RH target all off-season long. The Red Sox were linked to Grichuk even last off-season, he went to Arizona. They have been linked to Grichuk since right after the winter meetings this off-season. If/when the Houston Bregman signing happens, would not be surprised to see Grichuk picked up.

We've been out spent by the OAKLAND A'S and Angels.

How f***ing depressing and unacceptable.

Acting like we are a poverty franchise. Same old bs. Same old excuses. "Wee were interested in that player". "We were so close to signing them". "We are gonna spend and be competitive".

What a joke.

Keith Law from The Athletic published his Top 100 prospects in Baseball list. Among the notables:

1. Roman Anthony (BOS) - "He’s got a chance to be a 30-homer, high-average, high-OBP guy in right field, maybe with plus defense there, which is a “best player in the league” profile."

9. Kristian Campbell (BOS) - "He could easily be a plus defender at second and at worst should post high OBPs with 20-30 steals and 50+ extra-base hits a year."

28. Marcelo Mayer (BOS) - "He’s 22 now and still has superstar potential — a 30-homer shortstop with plus defense and what should be above-average OBPs is going to be the best player on his team in most cases. He has to show he can play 140 games in a year and get back to hitting offspeed stuff to be that kind of prospect again."

37. Kyle Teel (CWS) - "His glove is ready, and his bat is at least ready enough to make contact against righties. The White Sox have the luxury of time to let him continue to develop in the majors and hope he reaches his upside of a solid-average or better regular behind the plate."

38. Braden Montgomery (CWS) - " It’s 30-homer upside with strong defense and the hard contact to keep his batting average above the median as long as he comes back at 100 percent."

42. Franklin Arias (BOS) - "He has the upside of a plus defender at short with above-average OBPs and 20 homers a year, with the only major risk just his age and the distance he has to travel to get to the majors."

50. Nick Yorke (PIT) - "My evaluations of Yorke have been all over the place since he was drafted, so take this with even more grains of salt than usual, but I’m buying Yorke now as a future 55, an above-average regular who’ll have some years when he's an All-Star because he hits for such a high batting average."

97. Yoelin Cespedes (BOS) - "He’ll move to Low A this year and may take some time to get all his hand strength back; beyond that, he looks like a hitter who could move quickly through the low minors because he’s stronger and more polished than the typical teenaged hitter, with the upside of an above-average regular at third with fringy defense but a strong all-around offensive game."

Excited for Sox but stop telling us how you’re going to spend in FA

Apparently like me, Cora wants Bregman

But Breslow and others think Campbell is very close

You sign Bregman and after 1 year at 2B flip him to 3B & Devers to DH~ slide Campbell to 2B

That was easy

See guys that’s how you do it

It's easy until August, when you realize that Marcelo Mayer is tearing up AAA and you don't have anywhere to play him, unless you bench Trevor Story.

I am now a NO in Bregman? Why?

We know the Sox have an internal budget and I would be pissed in 2 years if the Bregman deal prevented them from signing a home grown talent. Would be nice to have it all, but I know its not 2004 anymore with this ownership.

This is absolutely ones of the reasons I don't want to sign him.

Can't wait to trade 26-year-old Roman Anthony for a bag of used batteries so we can unload Bregman's contact in the deal

I don't think it matters if we sign Bregman or not. They're probably most likely going to low ball our homegrown talent.

Bregman or not.

They'd use it as an excuse probably. But we all know the truth.

At least Arenado had an end date much sooner.

I am still OK with a JD Martinez deal for Bregman but if he is turning down the offer from the Astros he must know there is more $$ to be had, or Boras has lost it. Answer is probably somewhere in the middle, but if that middle is more than 3 years, I'm out.

So put forth an inferior team for five months hoping for a maybe?

yeah I'm with you. I want the Mets to sign him too. No interest in Baty/Acuna at 3rd and wasting Soto's first season hoping you sign Vlad next summer
