I was a Jones supporter in the playoff run year. He was legitimately good in terms of making smart and safe plays and getting the most out of each play.

Team did him zero favors since then (besides the payday), but its also abundantly clear that he was just not the guy. That contract always had an exit ramp and that is why we are here today.

As for the organization, ABSOLUTE CLOWN ORGANIZATION. Bunch of rich assholes who think they are holier than thou and cannot make any mistakes. There needs to be a culture change. Giants have been background noise for me for years and I am one of their biggest fans. Just a hopeless situation.

Winning two Super Bowls against the prime Brady Patriots has ensured that we may never win another one. Whether that is because of ownership and front office hubris, a hilariously corrupt league with its thumb on the scales, or both is up for debate. It's both for me, personally.

Honestly such a bullshit move to bitch to ESPN executives because on air talent called out that dumb Jones statement yesterday.

Why even have or let him put that out in the first place when he wasn't publicly released yet?

Why the f*** is he lining up as 4th string safety?

The Giants as an organization deserve every bad word thrown there way. The culture is rotten and it starts with ownership. The Jets ineptitude has run cover for the Giants ineptitude for far too long.

Also I won't boo hoo for Jones one bit. Dude sucked. He always sucked and he always going to suck. I don't feel bad for a guy making millions of dollars to be bad at his job.

It was evident that year was a red herring, it was like watching Fitzpatrick 2015 Jets year. Everything fall into place for the Giants that year, the schedule was a calk walk. They also ended that regular season like 3-6 before running into the Cousins led Vikings in the playoffs. They should've moved on from Jones and looked for a better QB off of that year instead of paying him

The new regime day 1 should have known they needed to start over at the QB position. Idk why that wasn't the mandate. Were they suckered in by Jones performance that year?

Was Mara forceful that he wanted Jones to be the guy?

Just made no sense for a new GM and coacu to handcuff themselves the way they did after their first season.

He was Gettleman's inherited mistake, why make him your mistake by giving him that contract?

Mara wanted Saquon back and Schoen vetoed him as any GM with any power should but it's evident Schoen made a young GM mistake after a good year and Daboll probably overestimated himself after 2022. He's a good coach but no one was making Jones into a viable NFL starter even if it happened slightly for half a year in 2022.

Like what would even be the point of cutting him now? Unless he can somehow catch on with a playoff team that needs a starter lmao. The sad part is I could still see it happening because Woody is totally unhinged at this point.

The only playoff contenders who might throw their starter overboard that I can see are the Vikings (cue the circle of life memes for Packers legends!) and maybe the Colts but the latter is probably stretching it a bit since they aren’t in that playoffs atm plus they want Richardson to play.

Darnold is miles better than Rodgers this year, so no. And no team is taking him after what he did to the Jets with the power control shit. He's gonna retire or go to some team that gets their dick in their hands after the NFL draft, say if like the Raiders can't get Ward or Sanders.

Darnold had a great first month of the season but since then he's just been mid (which was basically his pattern in Carolina too), they barely beat the Jaguars who have about as much of a pulse as the Jets because he threw three picks in that game. He actually had another bad game against the Jets, whose D has been awful this year. Long story short, they know you aren't winning a title with Sam and I like the kid.

I was more talking about in-season but out of season it's actually even a better fit with the Vikings, Darnold's a FA and they aren't bringing him back because they want McCarthy to start long-term, but McCarthy will be a virtual rookie next year coming off a serious injury, a perfect recipe for a potential one-year 'fix' to buy them time with McCarthy.
