But the Miami fandom is worse!!!!!!1111111

I didn't want him as a Jets fan, I wanted Lamar (was probably never truly available) or Carr that year but of course they went for the grossly washed option and ticket sales.

Dan Campbell is not out coaching Andy Reid and will lose them that game in some stupid fashion, Chiefs would win like 28-13

I mean, Darnold was drafted what, 4-5 years ago? Okay yea, over the past 4-5 years Miami has had it better than the Jets.

Don't play DeVito. Run Jones into the ground. Tank HARD.
I disagree for three separate reasons.

  1. DeVito is a fan favorite. I couldn't have given less of a shit about the Giants up until it was announced he took the starting role.
  2. It's extremely important to keep Brian Daboll employed as our head coach, because he is good at his job. A better record helps with that. The GM is also fairly competent. I don't want our dickhead owner to ruin the only braintrust we've had since Reese and Coughlin.
  3. Do you trust this ownership to do the right thing with their drafting and talent development? I don't. Mara's been calling the shots since two Super Bowl wins against the prime Patriots convinced him he was smarter than everyone else, and it may cost us future Super Bowl victories. The same thing happened with the Cowboys in the 90s- Jerry Jones got a fat head, fired Jimmy Johnson, and only won one more Super Bowl because of the talent on his roster. He hasn't come close since.

You think Daboll is a good coach? The best argument I've heard for him is that we don't really know since he inherited Jones.

It's not a high bar, but he's a hell of a lot better than the other complete morons we've had since forcing out Coughlin. I don't find his playcalling to be horrendously bad like Judge or McAdoo. And, frankly, most coaches in the NFL suck, and it can get worse.

You're beyond delusional if you think if the Miami fandom as a whole is worse than the Jets fandom, it's not even worth explaining anymore since you have the woe is me attitude with the Dolphins. Team is 4-6 mainly due to Tua being hurt and will probably make a wild card run while the Jets are 3-8 in an all in year.

Schoen and Daboll had to be on the same page in extending Jones after 2022. If they weren't, then it's a totally separate issue. They both deserve blame on it. I highly doubt Mara forced their hands on a Jones deal, Mara wanted Saquon back and Schoen ignored that

Well, in that case, I take back what I said.

dude lol im not talking about RIGHT NOW. I just said I will give you the past ~5 years. But if you go back 20-25? the Jets have had way more success than the Dolphins. I can't even believe that is debatable?

I gave you the NHL example in the Leafs v Sabres and you completely ignored it, that's on you man, no one is TAKING the Jets fandom over Miami even with the playoff win drought. You're fooling yourself.

You’re missing the biggest reason, the injury guarantee that kicks in if Jones gets hurt

Douglas OUT

Seems kind of Ray Shero-ish, he has a really good eye for talent but struggles with the team building part. Jets are always less than the sum of their parts.
Also Shero ish in that this was done in season although at least that firing was before the trade deadline. Firing Douglas several weeks before the season ends and after the trade deadline accomplishes what…unless this is Woody taking care of family business before going off to London again?

The state of the NY football franchises is absolutely pathetic. I used to be a rather big NFL fan and will still tune into the playoffs, but otherwise I barely watch the league. Maybe I'll catch up on some highlights here or there or the occasional big game (watched some KC-Buffalo on Sunday), but overall the dismal performance year-after-year-after-year by these teams has zapped a ton of my interest in the league.

This was a great chart from the beginning of last season - taking the standings from the prior 162 games (matching baseball) and how they would look. Both teams planted firmly in the bottom 5 of the league over the past decade. They've done little to change the trajectory, with the Jets sporting a .357 win % the past 2 seasons and the Giants at an abysmal .296 - with neither team, as far as I can tell, having much of a decent long-term outlook.

Giants at least mixed in a couple playoff appearances, but man is it brutal being a fan of these teams. Props to those of you still hanging in there.

Bold of you to assume I'm hanging in there. Combined with the abominable quality of play that the rule changes have wrought over the past few years (and, frankly, over the last two decades), I've just tuned out the NFL near completely. I only tune in for late in the playoffs, and I'll check in with DeVito, but other than that, I don't care.

I've gotten into college football recently because I've been following some college football accounts on Bluesky. It's a much better game to watch.

I have to watch four college football teams on Saturdays. I still prefer the pro game. it helps if you cheer for a good team but the lack of depth in college is still a bit stark at times.

The problem with the NFL is that it's such an absolute chore to watch. More penalty flags, more play stoppages, more reviews, just more BS in general. Ideally, I'd like to watch the NFL that flows more like college football.

The referees are awful in the NFL. We've all read or heard the adage that there's holding on every play in the NFL. So by definition the games are all flawed. To me the worst part of the NFL is the lousy officiating that seems at best inconsistent and at worst corrupt. I don't mind the video replay. I'm old enough that having it available is still better than the alternative. Someday there will be robot refs and it will be much better.

I can see where Afro is coming from in the sense that Shero had built had a very good forward core for the next GM to come in and build with Nico/Jack similar to what the Jets have with GW/Sauce and that Shero neglected the defense only for Fitz to be a god on that side with transactions, maybe the Jets next GM can build their trenches PROPERLY. Douglas, in my eyes, was cooked the second he took Becton over Wirfs. That 2020 draft class was one of the worst in Jets history by a country mile.

Can’t the Jets just be bad? Do they have to be a god damn embarrassment off the field too?

I don’t know how much of that I truly believe given he was coming off a very good game against New England and the team was only 2-2. That said, it’s Woody Johnson and he’s a f***ing over-involved imbecile.

I can’t wait until the team is no longer in his family’s hands.

It couldn’t be any more obvious where the flow of leaks came from yesterday lol, and I’m all for petty payback even if Joe clearly did plenty wrong himself - including trading for Reddick after being told he wouldn’t report without a new deal.

Woody has clearly become more meddling though, that much was obvious even before these stories yesterday. Clueless and meddling is a bad combo.
