This.

Use the run game to wear down the D and take time off the clock.

Goff is a more than capable QB, but he's not the gunslinger that people are looking for.
Detroit was without one of their starting guards as well. So that's another injury to add to the pile.

Montgomery was active and he played. But he wasn't the same. Nor should anyone who has closely paid attention to this team expected him to be. As great as Ben Johnson is, he does give me some Mike Martz vibes.

The killer was the pick 6 after the Washington TD. That's what sunk Detroit because they have to essentially play spotless in order to win. They don't have the resources defensively to bail them out.

They could manage without Hutchinson. But losing McNeil and Davis in the Buffalo game was impending doom.

And this is why I will happily shit on anyone here who has limited knowledge about this team and what it has gone through this season.

People claiming JD5 is already the best QB in the NFC probably feeling pretty vindicated so far these playoffs. This man does not seem like a rookie at all.

It’s a tough break for the Lions. If they had even a normal amount of injuries this year I think they would have easily made it to the finals, it was just otherworldly how they constantly were dropping like flies this season. Will have to see what the future brings for them. But it’s a good time to be a Commanders fan. Way ahead of schedule.

If i was looking for a coach, that game would have probably scared me off Ben Johnson.

Holy shit talk about not being able to read the room. Gibbs was killing them on the ground and it was apparent early Goff wasn't on his game early.

The solution is to obviously force Goff to continue attacking downfield so he can do his best Chernobyl impression while Gibbs just uh, sits there i guess?

the thing that just came out about him not wanting daniels and wanting howell to run his offense over him if the commanders hired him last offseason completely soured me on him as a candidate

I cannot believe this team was so trash to win 4 games last year and improved so much in one offseason. And the defense is still vulnerable, but the offense, even with key non-flashy pieces (they basically added two offensive linemen and a few pieces like Noah Brown and OZ) was able to make it all the way to the NFC Championship Game

Just goes to show you how much Snyder was holding this team back. Competent QB, great offensive coordinator and a great leader. Throw in a strong front office and an owner, all on the same page, and you got a winning formula

Johnson vis a vis Goff, the trick play aside, I lay the blame on Goff more than the playcalling.

I actually thought he was talking about the O and an impending delay of game...
Yeah, you figure he’s talking about offense since he’s a QB, but you don’t usually get that commentary until the penalty is called. And you can see that there’s a guy who doesn’t know where to be because his man is taken.

Bridgewater in was the hint that should have been taken. Put it all on Gibbs in the second half. The Washington D was getting steamrolled literally and then if Gibbs bounced it, WSH lacked the team speed. Force WSH to commit 8, and then go over the top.

Not too different from the first Washington Super Bowl in the Gibbs era. The first half was a disaster of sorts and taking it out of Theismann's hands and into Riggo was the key change.

Stanley Thomas-Oliver (#38) is the guy on the field who looks like should not have been. You know how many NFL games he played before last night? Zero.

He signed with Birmingham of the UFL in November.

Divisional round of the playoffs and we got dudes out there who have never played.

I say this at least once every year: Tell me who is healthy and I’ll tell you who is good.

Wow. This was a true shocker but I loved every minute of it. Not just out of Vikings related spite but also because Jayden Daniels is a damn superstar and I love watching him play. I will fully admit I was wrong about the Dan Quinn hire and I was even skeptical of Daniels out of the top QBs because of his playing style and sacks. It's a ton of fun watching this Washington team. Daniels is so calm back there like a multi-year starter.

On the Detroit side, I have no idea why their entire game plan wasn't just Gibbs, especially after it was clear he couldn't be stopped and Montgomery had nothing. Worst time for Jared Goof to show up as well, he was beyond awful. Rough one for Ben Johnson to end on.

Well, Dan Campbell should have a talk with Don Cherry before Cherry expires.
A "Too many men" therapy session.

As the one guy who is a fan of Montreal hockey and Washington Football, those events being associated hit me different than with others. lol.

Yeah it's the 12 man play, the other gaffes, the trick plays, why Detroit is rightfully getting ripped in the national and local media today. Even with their injuries the oddsmakers and experts had Detroit a heavy favorite.

Washington was impressive, if I remember they played the Eagles well both games - if Philadelphia disposes of LA as they're supposed to it should be a good game next week. Old school.

3rd time since the merger that one division had 3 teams make the playoffs and not win a game
