I never felt like Minnesota was a true contender this season (also feel that way about Michigan). I feel like last season is going to haunt the Gophers for a long time, because boy was that team beyond loaded with talent, and they couldn't win the national tournament (they should have) or the conference tourney.

Very similar situation to Michigan in 2022 (although UM at least won the conference tourney), you just don't accumulate that much talent on a college roster very often.

Just to add, I've seen an article or two in college hockey media in recent weeks that the NCAA hockey tournament might return to campus sites like in the old days. I hope the quality of this year's games puts that to rest. Nothing is perfect, but neutral arenas are fairest and just fine with me(as long as there's a bar across the street).

Especially in a game where you are dominating the quality chances against an opponent like Quinnipiac who plays a tight style that thrives on getting a lead and clogging up the game.
