Or throwing away picks. The Allen moves took another trade asset off the board, while also eating up another $1m in cap. No brainer to roll with Markstrom and Kahk ($1m), keep your 3rd/2nd, and have an extra $1m of cap.
If it was a team that hadnt gotten the league worst goaltending the last three years, Id agree; defense was a major part of that but going into this year knowing damn well goaltending and defense is taken care of is good for the mental of the team

Palat played really well with Bratt and Hischier last year. Certainly not ideal but it's not the end of the world if the three of them play next year.
If it works then so be it - but idk how Meier would like it being on the left side, unless Mercer is okay playing left

We could do a lot worse than Tarasenko as a 1-2 year plug at this point. I was surprised at how well he played defensively in the playoffs, Paul Maurice said he was terrific in the room and great with their younger players.

That shouldn’t be a big let down.
I watch a lot of Winnipeg and Dillon is very, very good. Miller is ok at best. But Dillon was actually the Jets' 2LD behind Morrissey. He'll be replaced by Samberg moving up to 2LD and Stanley becoming the full-time 3LD. Miller was signed to be the 3RD behind Pionk and DeMelo.

It's a functional blueline strictly because Morrissey is so outstanding. But Dillon will certainly be missed in Winnipeg, he was terrific last year.

No, he's a far superior skater to Gusev (toilet sitting be having ass). That's a huge plus. But he doesn't have Gusev's raw skill.

I just don't like how long it takes for these guys to come over. Dude will be 24 by the time he comes over, if ever.

Yeah, no brainer to just assume that Kahkonen would want to stay here and would sign for $1M.

I'm not breaking up Nico - Meier (with Timo at RW).

Put Bratt back with Jack, either wing, Bratt can play both.

Those combos are what I would enter the season with. Fill LW by commitee or hope Fitz can make a shrewd trade.

The Timo RW stuff is such nonsense. His hot stretch came this year at LW. He can play both wings and be great on both. Bratt should be back with Jack yes. Mercer belongs with Nico and not Jack.

I would be fine dealing Filmon but it would be a hard no for me on Lenni for this particular player.
I mean, Hameenaho is the Devils 5th best prospect and second-best wing prospect, but I wouldn't have him as the dealbreaker on a Colton deal. The Devils acquisitions of Markstrom, Pesce and Dillon have clearly jump-started the contention window to "right now". Colton helps now conceivably more than Hameenaho would later.

Fine, whatever man. But those duos are what I would go with.

Why you have to be so uppity about semantics?

Id be happy with any of them

Id be ecstatic with a Ross trade but that seems unlikely

It’s Rico or bust for me when it comes to adding one of the bigger names and it pretty much always way to me

Maybe you can get the best of both worlds (a bigger body with Jack and Bratt there)

Mercer-Hischier-Meier
Palat-Hughes-Bratt

If we dont acquire one of the remaining four top-6 guys
