I'd take Boqvist back for the 3rd pair. Why not?

Yeah he's been bad, but he's still pretty young. I'd give him one more chance to figure it out before writing him off.
As bad as the SJ trade was, CBJ's entire return depends on David Jiricek at this point.

If the Hawks actually signed him to the first rumored contract(8x8) it wouldn't be terrible because a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Jiricek would be a building block that fits the timeline. Jones is on the team for no particular reason.
Yeah that's the argument for Jiricek.
I get it completely.

I still don't understand how Bowman didn't get fired before the 2021 offseason. It will never make sense to me. He was dead man walking already due to the Beach cover up.

Good reclamation project and an upgrade over the disaster we have in net behind Mrazek

1 yr deal likely works for both sides as Samsonov looks to re-establish his stock after last season in Toronto

How is he going to re-establish himself playing behind one of the worst teams in the league?

The Hawks are going to sign players that miss out on contenders and settle here for money, like Dumba and Zucker with Arizona last year.

Stamkos isn't coming here. Hell even Lafferty is probably going to test the market first. Most guys want to win. They're going to try to catch on with competitive teams first.

According to CapFriendly, he’s played on the right side. He doesn’t have the size, but he might be worth taking a flyer on to see if he can fill the right side on the 3rd pairing

Smurf, and a below average skater.

Not worth it. He's a PP specialist and worthless at everything else. I would prioritize the development of any of our own guys (EDM, Kaiser, Phillips) over him.

Same way Petr Mrazek did

Have you not watched Samsonov play? The guy gives up a goal and then sits on his goal line. He's mentally fried. He needs to play behind a staunch defensive team to build himself up, not behind a team that's going to leave him out to dry most nights.

Mrazek's issues were injury-related but he's always been a battler. Samsonov has never been a battler.

LOL

What a crock

Mrazek had same issues and injuries aren't to blame for why he has bounced between 5 NHL teams in his career. He was perfectly healthy when he lost his job in Detroit and then bombed in Philly

And at end of day no matter how you try to spin it Samsonov is an upgrade over f***ing Soderblom who has been worst goalie in NHL over last 2 years and is a near automatic blowout loss when taking net

Not a good day for Ex-Hawks in Columbus

What a crock? How do you post anywhere near as much as you do, while knowing so little about the league and it's players? And players on your own team no less?

Mrazek literally credited a change in his off-season training for his success this year and this was the first time in a long time he didn't have an lower-body/groin issues in a season.
