With the way the Leafs have drafted in the previous years, I would almost bet something on them picking AJ Spellacy with their newly acquired second round pick.

Seems like the Leafs with their first pick in the last few drafts have been prioritizing smart, good skating, competitive players who had strong second halves/playoffs and untapped offensive potential.

Seems like a recipe that has worked so far and as someone who followed this draft the least of any in the last decade, Danford seems more interesting than any other player ranked in his range.

Probably doesn’t have the potential to be an elite #1, but grabbing a reliable #2 or 3 guy this late in the 1st would be huge.

That doesn't look like a bad player type to me, I'd rather have that than the high IQ, 6 foot and under guys with meh skating we seemed to be favoring

To be fair, he is supposed to be high IQ too. Smart and mean, a great combination.

Unfortunately, I kind of like it.

Yakemchuk is the most underrated player in this draft. Parekh, the most overrated.

Based on my superb youtube watching and podcast listening, I have some good options for the 2nd round. I also have guys I'd stay away from.

Leo Sahlin Wallenius - Very fast d-man. Puts up points. Not huge though.

Jesse Pulkkinen - Big D-man. Still a project, but has big upside. He's shown glimpses of game-breaking plays and big-time hits.

Spencer Gill - Big D-man. Great skills all-around. Very competitive. Offence needs to grow.

Gabriel Eliasson - Evil monster. Huge D-man who enjoys hurting people. Can he get the rest of his game up to par?

Kasper Pikkarainen - Huge right-winger who is extremely competitive and very physical. Offence may not be great. Could end up being a great bottom sixer.

Tanner Howe - Very competitive LW; smart, good offense. People keep mentioning his size as a factor, but he's listed as 5'11!? Maybe he's much smaller than that?

Adam Jecho - At first glance, he looks great (C who is 6-5), but low compete and "soft" for his size. Getting F. Gauthier vibes.

Alfons Friej - Great skater, but loses board battles and easy to play against. Big-time Lily vibes.

John Mustard - Fast with good shot. Tempting because he's a C. However, his hockey sense and IQ have been questioned. Not a good sign, IMO.

If they pick someone from my "Yes" list, I will remind you guys of my genius. If they pick someone from my "No" list, I will smash my computer and let you guys know what a huge mistake they've made. If they pick someone I don't know, I will be furious at first and then I will be happy once I read up on the player.

Not too productive tho.

I wonder about overagers with those fifth rounds picks. I’d imagine Pulkinnen would get a good look in the second.

Well, they had him at the Dev camp last year, but I think that's a consideration for 5th round or later, IMO.

Of the kids they had at their dev camp, Benjamin Ruatiainen would be the most interesting to me, and I should've put him in the OAs to consider.

Would still have preferred to take a gamble on a guy with a late 1st who has a higher potential ceiling. I was hoping for Hutson. But Clark has brought a lot of goodwill with the Cowan pick so we will see

Watch us pick 5'8 Justin Poirier with the 58th pick. One of the best goal scorers of the draft but plays with some fiestiness. Kind of reminds me of Robertson.

He was at their development camp. So they’ve had a good look. He’s a re-entry but was a younger player in his draft year.

Just hit on a gem at 58 please.
