Why do people not like this trade? Late 2nd for a 2nd next year and a late round pick this year seems fine enough...gives us an actual decent pick for next year as well.

These are not sexy moves for today.

Fans want action.

More buffoonery IMHO !!! Take the best player available today.

Are they hoping that the Panthers tank next season?

I don't think the player they select in the bottom of round 2 next year will be any better than this years pick at 58. Next years pick will also be farther away from graduating to the NHL.

It does but if they want more picks... There's a very straight forward way of achieving that. Trade some god damn players...

Maybe they do but instead of picks the return might be already drafted prospects.

this is what happens when you have zero draft picks

Treliving trying to recover from the Dubas Scorched Earth draft pick carnage .. A clueless Dubas had already traded away Leafs 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks
from next years 2025 draft class.

Now Leafs have a 2nd round pick in 2025 as a result of trading back in 2024.

This after leaving BT only 3 surviving picks from 2023.

If next years draft is much deeper, it makes sense. Esp if they just plan to take their guy with the 3rd round pick. That’s the only way I see this trade making sense.
