Yes, but his defenses have also done things like beat the Chiefs in the playoffs, and play in a Super Bowl, so he was always going to get another look.
Any DC for Cincy is going to have to make due with younger players that they need to coach up. Paying a top QB and likely paying Chase. And needing to build an OL for the QB. Limited to 1 or 2 key guys on D while the rest, once they hit free agency, going to let go like S Bates.

Kind of the KC model, where they have Jones and everyone else. Let Snead go in the offseason trade to Ten when he was a free agent.

Sounds like the Cowboys are going to be hiring Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach. Joining the staff as a trainee and future head coach will be Jason Witten.

Brian Schottenheimer is qualified for the job because Jerry liked his dad and because he'll be super cheap.

Not as much cheap as he would be willing to capitulate to Jerry. Only so many people are willing to deal with him as he becomes more senile.

Cheap is still an important factor. It’s why Sanders isn’t an option. Jerry won’t pay a big buyout. He doesn’t even want to pay market rate for a coach.

McCarthy was getting $5 million per year. Jerry is a cheapskate.

Deion doesn’t have that big of a buyout. He’s not making that much

Jets going after guy whose D in Detroit was almost entirely garbage outside of a few weeks this year only for it to end as usual garbage
What Glenn did with that D this year is pretty damn impressive considering all the injuries. They had some bad weeks but still finished top 10 in scoring defense and run defense. Tied for 5th in TD's allowed, they were far from being a garbage defense. Beyond that, Glenn's leadership skills are his main attribute and that's more important for a head coach than playcalling is. He may not succeed as a head coach but he's certainly one of the best candidates and it wouldn't surprise me if he becomes a better HC than Ben Johnson. I do think Johnson's an excellent hire but you're short changing Glenn here.

Only 2 more openings now

Saints one looks rather unappealing with chronic cap hell. Wonder how that's even allowed to be that over the cap every year.

Because they’re never over the cap when the league year begins.
Just goes to show how volatile the NFL is, Slowik last season was considered a potential head coaching hire but now a year later is fired.
Jerry Granville once said NFL stands for Not For Long.

It’s not a year-to-year league.

Good reason why OC/DC should be willing to jump at chances as you can quickly fall from 'Top candidate" to not getting interest and out of a job
Where did he interview last season? TB/CAR?

At worst, if you take the HC job and fail, you should get HC money in the $3 mill plus range over 4 years. Secures $12 mill plus. If you return to OC after that, can work your way back up.

See where he lands. A lot of the good offensive HC call their own plays.

Raiders need an OC and DC, who’s good candidates out there
Again, Pete's history has been:
Bradley, Quinn, Richard, Norton, Hurtt at DC
Bevell, Schotty, Waldron at OC.

I don't think he's bringing any of those guys back.

Saleh also started with Seattle way back.

Graham is the DC for the past 3 seasons. Is he still under contract? I know he interviewed with Jax.

For DC, is Pete looking for someone to run his Seattle cover 3 scheme or does he want to hire someone to run a scheme that they see fit. Given Pete's age and stuff, that he may need to be more of a CEO and oversee things vs. get too into the details on his side of the ball.

OC, can be anyone really. But, Pete likes to run the ball.

Who does the new GM know and like?
