Any DC for Cincy is going to have to make due with younger players that they need to coach up. Paying a top QB and likely paying Chase. And needing to build an OL for the QB. Limited to 1 or 2 key guys on D while the rest, once they hit free agency, going to let go like S Bates.

Not as much cheap as he would be willing to capitulate to Jerry. Only so many people are willing to deal with him as he becomes more senile.
Cheap is still an important factor. It’s why Sanders isn’t an option. Jerry won’t pay a big buyout. He doesn’t even want to pay market rate for a coach.
His buyout is $8 million. Jerry isn't willing to pay a coach that much per season.
What Glenn did with that D this year is pretty damn impressive considering all the injuries. They had some bad weeks but still finished top 10 in scoring defense and run defense. Tied for 5th in TD's allowed, they were far from being a garbage defense. Beyond that, Glenn's leadership skills are his main attribute and that's more important for a head coach than playcalling is. He may not succeed as a head coach but he's certainly one of the best candidates and it wouldn't surprise me if he becomes a better HC than Ben Johnson. I do think Johnson's an excellent hire but you're short changing Glenn here.
