Payton is in a tough spot of wanting to make things easier on a rookie QB and needing to turn him loose before it’s too late. That last drive starting with two runs is trying to do the former…but it’s getting late. I suspect we’ll get more Bo unleashed now that we’ve hit the 4th quarter. But they need to stop any kind of score here or it may be a drive too late. Unless they can start forcing turnovers.
Update: they did not.

Looks a lot better when they open it up. I think Payton called things too conservative today

He is a rookie QB. This was a tough ask for him coming into a hostile environment
And again…I don’t have a bunch of plays to point to where he played bad. Time of possession and a lot of run calls limited his chances. Came out and made two monster throws…then they went in a shell

Payton seemed to come in with the idea of limiting the overall number of drives and limiting chances for mistakes.

That's not a bad idea overall, but once the Bills settled in and got a couple scores, it was clear it wasn't going to work and he basically didn't adjust.

Denver has had Surtain sticking to the boundaries most of the game because Buffalo doesn’t have a #1 to follow. Watching the dots on the Samuel score he ends up being the guy who has to pick him up after Buffalo’s motion confuses the defense. He’s the only guy who catches it but he can’t get there. Because it probably wasn’t his man coming out of the slot. Someone screwed up and I’ll bet it wasn’t him.

Watched multiple videos this week about how that's a large amount of what Brady has been calling and gives the Bills much of their success.

Formations with motions and 4 bunch setup and then all sorts of weird starts to routes so defenses have a hard time figuring out who goes where.

Never gonna stop Allen from knowing that 35 yards also picks up a 3rd and 4
