2024 80th Overall Ondřej Becher

Even if he was training?

Serious question. I don't know the details of the CHL's insurance policy.

The WHL player agreement isn't on the web, but I assume it's similar to the OHL. Here's the contract:

The second page basically says he's only covered while playing for the team and can be suspended if he shows up not able to play. I do not know the details of how he injured himself, but he wasn't playing for his team.

Great, he finally gets to play. Now that Kasper is up, Becher has a good chance to carve himself a good spot. Next to Lombardi? But he's coming from a injury, so start might not be smooth. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Toledo at some point to built confidence.

Becher is a legit center, so I would hope hes playing down the middle when he gets back
Becher is left and Danielson is right, both similar type of players. Danielson more skilled, Becher more physical and should be good together . I like the idea to have Lombardi - Kasper and Becher- Danielson lines, just like D and Z were

Looks like with MBN and Becher we are looking for guys who can add to the organizational depth in the short term. MBN should be in Detroit in 2025-26 and Becher looks like a guy who at a bare minimum should be a fixture in Grand Rapids as soon as this upcoming season with maybe some late blooming magic in his future.
Damn, looks like I nailed this one. Starting to get cautiously optimistic about our North American scouting under Yzerman.
