No I don’t
I guess we disagree. To me, I think you see guys signing bigger deals on potential performance all the time. WJC is just one more big stage to add more evidence that you have that high potential = bigger deal.

I didn't think that was particularly contentious.

Well you’d be one of the few thinking a WJC tourney could affect an NHL contract 3 to 5 years later. Ya we disagree.

I think that if Dorion is the GM negotiating the contract that it could totally influence the deal. Thankfully, we don't have to worry about that anymore.

To be clear @Golden_Jet I'm not saying that I think it did influence Dorion, but rather that it could have. 🤔

Yep. Chabot played 134 NHL games between the WJC and his contract signing. It's 1.6 full seasons to evaluate him.

If you think that MVP WJC performance didn't come up in those contract discussions, I think you're wrong.

Ya we disagree, I already said that, and Chabby is also one player.
In general I stand by, a WJC isn’t going to affect an NHL contract down the line.

A WJ can get you a better ELC with some better performance bonuses.

Isn’t factored once the ELC is over, that’s only subject to what you’ve done as a pro.

NHL contracts are signed based on what they have done against NHL competition and how they expect the player to evolve and play against NHL competition in the future.

The Juniors would have no bearing on that. Imagine saying how you played against kids should prove you need to be paid more to play against NHL players.

Well at least they finally realized 1 of Parekh or Yakemchuk was a good idea.

Clown-ish management to not want one of the two best U-20 PP QBs for a short form international tournament where it might very well come down to powerplays.

I guess Parekh was next on the list.

Seems like Calgary has really zeroed in and is tracking progress on the defensive side of the puck which is a good thing for Parekh

I think Yak's motivation should now be able to get to the point where can snub team canada for a for WC Torny, or hell reach for the stars and snub them for an Olmypics in 8-10 years. At least thats what petty me would do.

Dickinson is the best PP QB in the CHL, and that really hurts the other twos chances.

There’s 2 other players in league that have more PP points currently than Dickinson.
Mews is the only D and wasn't an option for the WJ team, Dickinson has the 2nd most points in the CHL for a PP QB, behind Mews

Yak had a great game Saturday, ripped one from the top of the circles and did all the work for one of their goals walking down from the point.

Also, kind of funny/ironic that a week ago Staios complained publicily about 4 guys taken in the top 10 this year not being at camp and now all 3 of Sennecke, Parekh and Iginla are accounted for or at camp

Never smart to criticize hockey canada, much more successful program then the Sens

Glad Sennecke got the call.. He's been really good .. scored a beauty the other night. He was another one that did not have a great showcase in the summer.
Looks like Cowan will not participate at the selection camp
