For an 18-year old in Liiga playing on the 4th line and mostly less than 10 minutes a game, Koivu's stats so far are impressive.

He has 5 pts (1G, 4A) in 14 GP.

Out of the 14 games, he played less than 10 minutes in 9 of them. He played between 10 and 12 minutes in 3 of them. And in only 2 did he play more than 12 minutes (12:17 one game and 14:36 the other).

Comparing him to Kapanen, who in his D+1 year played 18 Liiga games and had 4 pts (1G, 3A). Also in his D+1 year, Kapanen played 11 U20 games and 8 Mestis games.

It's not guaranteed that Koivu will be in Liiga all year. He already played one U20 game. And like Kapanen was, Koivu might get loaned to a team in Mestis. Things can change throughout the season. But I think it is still impressive that Koivu is able to put up some points as an 18-year old depth player.

Hopefully like Kapanen did, Koivu will rise through the ranks from year to year and you see clear progress.

hasn't played a game since returning from the 5 Nations, I believe he is considered to be on the bubble for making the team this year so I hope this doesn't hurt his chances if he's say out much longer (I know we have a month to go yet)

This is the only game I have from said 5 Nations, thought he was solid in it,

Injury? Or benched?

so if Koivu doesn't make it , we won't have a single prospect in the WJ's again? Lame and boring, looks like so many more teams are drafting so solid and aren't in a rebuild.

Hage should be on Team Canada.

should be, but he won't be because the scumbags at Team Canada are an old boys club who bury scandals and are set in their ways

Please tell me you aren't being serious

You just defend Kent and MSL till the end, your opinion on the matter is tainted and heavily influenced by what you read on these boards. That is a fact.

Yup, 3 drafts, nothing to show for it... so many other teams have a better prospect list than that... like at least 2 or 3 :eviltongu

lol dude. Hage has every right to be there and Demidov would blow that tourney out of the water if his country was allowed to play. Come on you know all this.

You gonna pretend we didn’t make out like bandits last draft?

''When I saw that Montreal had the next pick, I knew there was a chance... Because they told me at the combine that they were interested in me... I didn't hear my name on the TV, but my mom jumped up and she started screaming; she was like: Oh my god, oh my god! I said: What are you screaming about? Then I saw my name on the TV, I jumped up and then I saw my dad jumped up and everyone else! It was an unbelievable moment. I'm never going to forget that... I'd do pretty much anything to live that moment again. It was very, very special for me and my whole family!''

''When I was younger, there was a little bit of pressure because I was a lot smaller and to be honest not as good as the other boys... So, I was kind of thinking: Why am I not as good if my dad and uncle were? But as I've gotten bigger and stronger and developed like I'm supposed to I kind of just see it as motivation. I don't just want to be known as Saku’s son, because I want to make a name for myself. I believe I can do that, and I believe I can become an even better player than him or my uncle! So, that definitely motivates me to make a name for myself!''

''I'll get to Montreal for a visit, probably next summer at development camp. I believe I'll be there if I get an invitation from the team. I don’t remember too much about the city - I mean the Bell Centre, of course, who could forget that? I do remember some things, but not too much, so I’m excited to see everything! People talk a lot about how amazing it is, including my dad. He’s been talking about how amazing it's, and I’ve heard only good things from him.''

''I did meet Juraj Slafkovsky! He probably won’t remember, but I remember for sure... Because everyone knew who he was and how big of a star he was at TPS!I met him a couple of times. I remember him, but if you ask him, I don’t think he’ll remember me.''
