As for his game, there are quite a few positives that stand out when watching Holinka. He is a solid puck handler when skating at top speed and understands where he needs to be positionally in both the offensive and defensive zones. Holinka is also a player who isn't afraid to drive the net, often creating second-chance opportunities for his teammates if he does not score.

Up next for Holinka will be proving he can produce at the pro level. As mentioned, he did see time in Czechia's top division but only had three points in 16 games while rarely cracking ten minutes of ice time. There is no doubt he is a very skilled player, but he needs to take that next step if he wants to continue his development and make an impact in North America.

The write up sounds very positive. Almost picturing Ilya Mikheyev.

Clark said it was likely Holinka came to NA next year to play Junior. His rights belong to Waterloo in the USHL and now the Oil Kings in the WHL.

I'd be shocked if he didn't go to the WHL to play next year.

Toronto Maple Leafs' prospect Miroslav Holinka was selected by the team in the 5th round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and, surprisingly, he's already heading to North America.

Holinka was selected by the Maple Leafs in the 5th round of the 2024 NHL Draft after spending the last 3 seasons within the pipeline of HC Ocelari Trinec in Czechia's top men's league. He scored 20 goals and 41 points in 29 games for the U20 club and added another goal and 2 assists in 16 games for the professional team in the Czech Extraliga this past season.

The 6'1, 190 pound centre was just recently selected by the Edmonton Oil Kings with the 14th pick in the CHL Import Draft, according to Scott Wheeler of The Athletic. The expectation is that Holinka will move from his native Czechia to Edmonton to play for the Oil Kings in 2024-25.
