Prospect Info: [2024 - 5th] Ivan Motherbleeping Demidov (RW), SKA St. Petersburg (MHL)

Doesn't matter. He'll be playing 16-18 minutes a night next year, PP1 out of training camp, with lots of leash. I'm past caring what Rotenberg does anymore.
And who are you going to move out of the pp1? You already have :

Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Hutson-Laine

Look at most of Laine goals in Power play. Slaf is blocking the goalie view. Slaf is our only power forward in the pp. We need one big forward to be in front of the goalie. The only option is probably Caufield if we sign Laine...
Send Laine to the pathetic Hawks for a 1st round pick before they target Miller or Petterson?

He prob starts PP2. There are always injuries and once he goes PP1, he will never look back (see: Hutson)
I agreed. People here have way to much expectation from him. They expect him to be the best player on the team on day 1. He probably take Slaf or Laine spot (if we don't plan on signing him).

Not my case but I always thought that he will be the best Habs player within 2 years.

Just like Lane Hutson should have been on PP1 from day 1, so should Demidov, as no one on this team has close to his overall skill level.

We don’t know for sure. But I think he’ll be the best Habs forward on day 1. To be very conservative, I could add that in an extreme worst case scenario it will take him one or two weeks,

Yep I wrote within 2 years but obviously I wish from day 1.

He is that good !!!!

If you are playing Demidov where is the redundancy Suzuki Laine Caufield or Hutson.
It would have to be one of the right handed trigger men IMO.
I can’t imagine either Caufield or Laine playing net front. Caufield would get killed. Laine would immediately ask for a trade.

I don't agreed. MSL won't move a a vet to make place for Demidov on day 1. Like i said, maybe after 10 games in NHL MSL will move one of the Slaf, Caufield or Laine. I don't see him doing it on day 1. Suzuki and Hutson are 100% sure to be on pp1.

Who will you remove from pp1? Slaf? He does bring a physical presence in front of the net. Caufield? Our best scorer. Or Laine? Most of his point(goals) come from power play.

If Kent is not planning on signing Laine, he will be my first choice.

who knows what the roster will look like next year, lots of things can happen between now and then. Demidov is the most skilled prospect the Habs have drafted in the last 20 years, he's got to be one the 1st, PP1, no question.

The problem with your theory, is that suddenly the second pp will become the first PP and guys are going to wonder why Newhook is playing with Demidov and not me?

I agreed with you on Demidov skill. But at the same time, I don't buy the whole ''Demidov will be the best player on day 1''. Both Nick Suzuki and Caufield are in their prime age.

I have not doubt that Demidov will be in our PP1. I highly doubt is going to be in his first NHL game.

Take Michkov right now(example). He is the second best player in his team . Behind Konecny. Michkov points will put him behind Suzuki and Caufield with us. He will third or fourth (with Hutson).

Do you honestly believe Demidov will be better than Suzuki, Caufield (prime) and Hutson (second season) on day 1?

Forget the Habs haters and Flyers fans, Michkov is inferior to Demidov and much less NHL ready. I won’t compare Bossy to Potvin. They’re on two different planes. But I think he’ll be better on Day 1 than the other forwards. Perhaps with 2 to 3 games feeling out process.
