Pure cope. He was playing with crap linemates, getting very little PP time and inconsistent deployment. He was not being "used as exploitation." They weren't sheltering him, they were punishing him for not signing a contract.

Cope? Wtf, I'm Habs fan and a huge Demidov fan, there's nothing to cope about. Keep the weak replies for the main board.

He got most of his points on the third line playing with Kuz, hardly a bad linemate. And yes, he often got points by being used as exploitation. No rookie gets to top the league in +/- without exploitation time, nor without sheltering.

It doesn't remove anything from what Demidov is doing as he's played great wherever he's been in the lineup, including the top 6, but no way does his p60 mean he's better than Kaprisov. Only time will tell.

With his connections to SKA, it was Bobrov who likely soured on Michkov the most. And I seriously doubt it was talent related. If it was he should be fired on the spot.

Most likely it was issues of attitude that were overblown at the time. Michkov didn't put up with Rotenberg's bullshit. He also refused to play with a certain NHL team (Arizona).
In the post draft video that the Habs released, there was a part where Gorton was talking to the assembled scouts about a prospect.

He said that it was very difficult to obtain elite talent, and that these opportunities don't arise often. He asked them if they were sure about their decision. Now no names were mentioned, but to me, it was obvious that they were talking about Michkov.

Talent was not the reason why they did not choose him. They had other reasons. Whether they were valid or not, we will probably never know, and his fans in the fanbase will be complaining about it forever.

We’ll add Demidov in March/April
  • This team has turned a corner and is 1 point away from the playoffs.
  • We just beat the last 4 Stanley cup champions.
  • Two of them were on a 5+ game win streak before we beat them.
  • We came back from a first period deficit twice when both teams were undefeated when leading after 1.
  • Adding Demidov to this team this year could launch us to a playoff dark horse
You mean we’re not firing MSL?

This kid is unreal. He constantly drives the net. No rest for the opposing team when he has the puck.
Can't wait for the line CC-Suzuki-Demigod. With him in line CC & Suzuki can finally play at full speed. ;)
More and more he does feel like he would need someone like Caufield to play with..
Just on speed alone, and Caufield thrived when he played with Jack Hughes and Demidov is a little jack hughesy to me so I could see them complement each other probably super well

I want Slaf to succeed as well and still think he's a good fit with #13-#14 , but it's good that we can interchange a lot of this newly forming top6 and they can all probably sync with each other bit
If Demidov plays with Nick and Cole
Then you possibly get a Slaf- Dach - Laine line and I'd like to see if they play better when they get their respective speeds back

Not a bad call actually. Ive always though having Slaf as the big body on that line would be best, but they will be a buzz saw line and lately Big Dick Nick has been really swinging his weight.

Slaf - Dach - Laine would be a very big boy line. With Dach's play lately and Laine burying the puck on that line, it could be a very very excellent 2nd line

They already tried that as a second line. Slow as molasses. Ugly.
