We had an exciting team.in 2008 with Kovalev, Markov, Kostitsyn...our power play was lethal and the best in the league.

Other than that the.last exciting team was in 88-89 with prime Richer, Courtnall , Naslund and Chelios..
People forgot that Richer was not just a booming shot but also one of the most spectacular player in the league.

I actually like Rotenberg being an ass to Demidov. All Ivan has been doing since the start of the year is prove that stuff like this doesn't affect him. Instead he goes and does the most he can with his deployment, kills it on the ice both offensively and defensively at 5v5 and we all know how good he will be on the PP once he gets his shot. To add to all of this, I am sure he has gained the respect of his teammates as a person, as everyone in that room knows his deployment was unfair and he still kept a good attitude the whole way. I am sure this year has built up Demi's character and now he will be further prepared to be a complete team player and leader in the NHL next year. He has proven that he can be a key player on a contending team, which Michkov has yet to prove (more of a guy that doesn't elevate his team).

Never thought I'd come across a more vicious mouthbreather than Michel Therrien in pro hockey.

Bring him with Demidov, next year, he will teach rispek to Dach, Newhook, Reinbacher and continue to make Demidov a better man...
This but somewhat unironically. MSL is fine but I'd love a modern hardass coach to test some of our players. Not Rotenberg but a toned down version. Montgomery would have been nice but the team wasn't ready to move on from MSL.

08-09 if we didn’t have all those injuries. Especially Lang.

Lang, Tanguay (for most of the series at least), Schneider, Cube and Markov (I think he was out too) were too many key pieces to miss. Probably not enough for a Cup but we had fun forward depth that year

So if I get it our boy scored in 4 straight? Does not sound like his development is being flubbed lol.
Don't fret, the Hot take brigade will find some other sky is falling narrative to jump on...

It's going to be a joy, for some of us, to watch Demidov develop in the blue blanc rouge.

His mental game & his dedication to improve looks to be on point, sky is the limit.

Can't wait!

Explains Rottenturd being stupid whenever he wins an award.

…Especially don’t give him TOI. He’s too good, he’ll put up too many points. He’ll be too full of himself. No one wants that…

What a petty man

Never thought I'd come across a more vicious mouthbreather than Michel Therrien in pro hockey.

To be fair, Rotenberg didnt say anything too controversial.

Rotten was showering Demidov with praise the whole interview. He merely said he wont praise Demidov directly because he doesnt want him to work less hard. And it’s not like Demidov can’t read the good things Rotenberg is saying about him in the media.

This is more a case of a sensationalized headline to get clicks.

Rottenburg doesn’t even know it yet but he’s doing the lord’s work. Making Ivan go through all this bullshit will make him mentally stronger.

You stoopid Americans don’t understand!!
It really is. And how Demidov is handling it at 18 y/o is so damn impressive.

This guy is gonna be such a beast man. Leadership, grit, passion, dynamic skill, playmaker, sniper, swagger - he's got it all. Complete package, finally. And he might even play C as a cherry on the top. Incredible prospect.

In your head
Props to Hughes for keeping his composure in front of that classless turd, I don't know if I would have been able to fight the urge to call him a pathetic little man in front of everyone.

Have you seen K.H? To put it gently, he is not dripping testosterone. I am convinced that Rottenturd would kick his ass after such disrespect.

True, where's Marc when we need him. :sarcasm:

Probably not the best idea to mess with one of Putin's buddies while in Russia anyway but still, what a disgusting human being.

...it is curious to me why the only post that seemed to be on the questioning side of Estimated Prophets has disappeared while any and all that are generally in agreement remain up if they all are indeed off topic...

I really don't care for his avatar and don't get why he gets to use it. Just saying.

I use Segal's vcr tapes to learn Aikido.

As a kid I trained in Aikido because I was a fan...

After going to see draft year reviews, he's listed at 5'11 but sometimes described as being smaller than Celebrini.

At his mini solo combine him and his agent ran IIRC he was measured a touch under 6'1". You can't trust most websites height listings. They put in the first listed height and then leave it as is forever. It would be nice if there was an official NHL approved height listing.

if you go on their site, you can click on the goal and it will show that Demidov wasn't on the ice.

Did you see the full play? Just wondering. Guys get assists on plays they started that continued whilst they sat on the bench. Guys have gotten goals while being on the bench too. If an opposing player mishandles the puck and it goes in whilst the last player that touched the puck is back on the bench.

Bench.

I'm going to completely ignore the geopolitical argument and state instead that the habs played the situation very well.

Hughes taking the time to go there instead of just sending an underling is a sign of respect and trust. Who cares if the russians used the situation as a marketing ploy - they have the short stick of the whole situation anyway and are kinda being humiliated with their prized prospect wanting to leave for North America as soon as possible... if showing them respect and being interested in their hockey program (which is a quality one from everything I read) is all it costs to lube the whole relationship, then it's a very low cost overall, and Hughes is smart executive in paying it willingly.

Also, this goes beyond Demidov. Russia is a paria right now, but it shouldn't remain so eternally, and the habs establishing a trust relationship with a (the) KHL powerhouse like SKA could reap additional benefits in the future. People remember who stayed friends with them when they were at their lowest.

What did that meeting have to do with ‘Russia’, or the ‘Russian hockey program’? Might as well say the Habs sent Lecavalier to St. Petersburg to represent Canada and Hockey Canada.

You're seriously exaggerating the politics of it all.
It was merely a meeting between the Canadiens and SKA. Nothing more/less.

Roman Rotenberg is a very bad person. That’s why we, the good people, are making childish plays on his name and calling him rotten and a turd every day. We’re good people, he’s bad people.

:eyeroll:
Pretty sure there's a Rotenberg fan club out there somewhere... You might find more like minded company there.

As was said in another thread though, even if MSL isn’t teaching anything to Hutson, he’s at least smart enough not to get in his way.

I still remember Therrien randomly deciding that we needed to play dump and chase hockey and that included PK Subban. He ‘coached’ the skill right out of our team.

That’s the benefit of having a guy like MSL, at a minimum he’s going to let skilled players play their game and that bodes really well for players like Hutson and Demodov.
I don’t disagree, but it would take a special kind of idiot to screw Hutson up. Even a buffoon like Therrien couldn’t stop PK. Some players just have “it” and Hutson is one. I believe Demidov will be much of the same.
