Just for comparisons sake:

2023-2024- Matvei Michkov 3.02 PTS/60 Mins playerd with a - 6 goal differential

2024-2025- Ivan Demidov 3.58 PTS/ 60 Mins played with a +18 goal differential

To be fair to Michkov, he was playing on the worst team in the KHL. So his +/- shouldn't be held against him. Only 3 players had a + rating on Sochi.

What I do find impressive in Demidov's case is that while we're not impressed with Rotenbererg's usage of him, he's still doing all this playing on one of the best teams. The same organization Michkov couldn't grab a spot in and had to be loaned out instead. But to Michkov's credit, he found a way to make it work for him.

Yes, this is not to downgrade what Michkov did, but more to show how impressive Demidov has been.

And don't forget, although Michkov was on a worse team in Sochi, he was getting way more opportunities in terms of offensive zone starts, pp time and overall playing time. Michkov was getting on average 2:55 of PP time per game while Demidov is currently at an average of 0:29 of PP time per game.

What's most impressive with Demidov is that his PTS/ 60 mins (3.79) is probably the highest in the KHL. I'm looking at the leading scorers in the KHL and he's higher than anybody at the moment....and he just turned 19.

100% agreed. Despite being put on the 4th line and getting less than 5 mins TOI, being the 13th forward, being benched for long periods at a time, he is still out there producing.

He's on pace for 48 pts.

He had 60 pts in 30 games in the MHL last year. It would be real impressive if he can crack the 45-50 points mark in the KHL.

You are correct on that, as well. He was pretty much the go-to guy on Sochi.

If Therrien was still coaching Hutson would be getting less then 10 min a game because let's face it Hutson has had some pretty brutal giveaways, and those would drive MT insane. So even if MSL isn't developing Hutson (Which I don't agree with), it's clear as day that we would be tearing down his confidence and trying to get him to change his entire game under most of our previous coaches.
Correct.

There are a lot of coaches out there who feel like they have to put their ‘stamp’ on a player.

Look at Torts benching Michkov. Has that helped him?

Demidov is the best prospect we’ve had in my time watching the Habs, in his prime teams will be focused on surviving Demidov shifts.

Coach makes comments about him not shooting enough he goes and scores 4 games in a row lol. He has that rare combination of elite skill, work ethic and love for the game.

What a treat to watch and fortunate series of events to land him.

Absolutely, not even really close either imo.

Just absolutely robbery picking him at #5. Chicago, Anaheim, and Columbus will have nightmares about that draft for a long, long time.
