Where does everyone see Demidov slotting in next season?

I'm assuming he's going to start on line 2 with Laine and whoever our 2C is. He'd be getting sheltered slightly and putting him with Laine should get Laine's 5 on 5 production to take off. I still think management should be after Malkin this offseason. Anything they can do to ease Demidov's transition to NA they should. Plus adding Malkin gives us a stop gap at 2C until Hage/Beck/2025 pick are ready to step up.

I am intellectually curious how the KHL is bypassing sanctions.

Notice that there are Western players in the KHL. They wouldn't be there if there was no way for them to bring their earnings home. Perhaps they deposit their money in Turkish, Indian, Chinese, or Kazakh bank accounts, and then transfer them back home.

I'm going to completely ignore the geopolitical argument and state instead that the habs played the situation very well.

Hughes taking the time to go there instead of just sending an underling is a sign of respect and trust. Who cares if the russians used the situation as a marketing ploy - they have the short stick of the whole situation anyway and are kinda being humiliated with their prized prospect wanting to leave for North America as soon as possible... if showing them respect and being interested in their hockey program (which is a quality one from everything I read) is all it costs to lube the whole relationship, then it's a very low cost overall, and Hughes is smart executive in paying it willingly.

Also, this goes beyond Demidov. Russia is a paria right now, but it shouldn't remain so eternally, and the habs establishing a trust relationship with a (the) KHL powerhouse like SKA could reap additional benefits in the future. People remember who stayed friends with them when they were at their lowest.

Using Rottenberg to promote Russia is like Steven Segal promoting America. It’s not exactly putting their best foot forward. 😂

I don't always agree with EP but he's right on this one. Unless you're a bully and/or a troll and/or profit off of disinformation, most of the current social media's landscape isn't good for honest political/social discourse. It really, really dumbs down public debateno matter wich side you're on. And no I certainly don't like Trudeau lol.

"Classic"/vintage forums like HFBoards are a bit better though, no algorithm to feed disinformation. Still miss the old politics subforum though, what a wild place lmfao

I think the core of what we're getting at is whether or not shutting down conversations on social media is good for honest discourse and I think the answer is a resounding no. I'm not saying you're saying that though.

Just that, it may not be perfect and I understand there are plenty of people who just like to troll or make money or whatever else.

But many people just want to have their opinions expressed and heard and there isn't a bigger microphone than social media today to do that. Yes there is a lot of noise amongst it that makes getting a point across more difficult than we would like but if the only alternative is having government be the arbitrator of what speech we should and should not engage in, (with the exception, obviously of things that are criminal) then that's not really an alternative at all. We all should have the right to express whatever opinions we want and question anything we want.

I guess I understand why the previous post that you were responding to (the one questioning EP on what ideologies he felt did not belong in the 21st century, to which I was curious of the answer) was taken down, given that this is a hockey forum and a privately controlled webpage where the moderators/owners can do whatever they want to because this site does not belong to me and it doesn't belong to you and I don't have the right to tell them to leave either that one or this one up.

But it is curious to me why the only post that seemed to be on the questioning side of Estimated Prophets has disappeared while any and all that are generally in agreement remain up if they all are indeed off topic...which they are. Including this one....questioning🤔

And so further to that I think it's paramount that we have an open and free market in platforms for our speech where, if you want to start a company that shuts down dialogue because you don't like it you can be free to do that and if you want to start or purchase and run one where you are allowed to be free to express your opinions and disagree with each other and even call each other mean names some times we should all be afforded that right. It is the most important right because without that we eventually lose everything.

And for the purposes of attempting to keep this post within the parameters of "on topic", lady's and gentlemen, cats and dogs, Ivan f***ing demidov.

Ps: anyone have his current p/60
