The fact that he was able to step into the AHL as an 18 year old after being out with injury for as long as he was and hold his own is impressive.
Yep, stepping up to a pro league, as an 18yo, and playing 24 minutes despite being out with a broken foot for over a month is impressive.

I didn't think there'd be a chance in hell he got close to 20 minutes in that first game, I honestly expected it would've been closer to 12. But he more than held his own.

What makes you more pissed now?

I see no reason to think that levshunov will be anything less than a top pairing guy so far.
Because the knock on Demidov was "oh he's playing in the MHL, he won't do this in the KHL!" What an awful take that's turning out to be.

I like Arty but I would rather have a guy who would probably go #1 in most drafts if he didn't play in Russia.

I'm not mad at the player, he's a Hawk now and I'm fully behind him. I'm upset with the GM, but again hopefully I'm wrong and have to bow down and kiss the ring of Lord Kyle.

I was Demidov's biggest fan on this board so believe me when I say I didn't love the pick either, but the GM tried to trade two first round picks including an unprotected first this year so he could draft Demidov.. they almost certainly did not have the MHL hangup that you take issue with, and simply thought Levshunov was the better of two excellent options

Demidov is killing it in the KHL and is 8th in points as an 18 year old, probably will finish the season leading the whole league which will be absolutely insane. Player we got is not aa impressive as you make it sound just for “holdign his own” in the AHL lol. We picked the much much weaker vessel. How is everyone not calling for this idiot Davidson’s head already? This is another Stan all over again and people here will just say “you have to accept it” and it’s fine bla bla bla and this team will be a bottom feeder for the next so many years, pathetic garbage.

I doubt you’ve watched a game either has played.

How do you know what I have or havnt watched? What are you arguing exactly? Are you saying there is a remote chance in hell Levshunov will have a bigger impact in the NHL than Demidov or even close to it? How much of your money would you put on that prediction? To answer your pathetic assumption I have watched both.

And he's doing it with inconsistent minutes (sometimes under 10 minutes per game) and virtually zero PP time. The SKA coach is a vindictive idiot.

And yes - I've watched a lot of his games this season.

I get it and wanted Demidov too but I don’t think at this point we can tell which will be the more impactful player.

I’m really impressed with what both players are doing even though levshunov hasn’t played as much.

It was a simple yes or no question, have you watched a game of either Levshunov or Demidov?

Show me where I mentioned Demidov at all. If you really did watch Lev in his first two AHL games as a teenager coming off a long layoff, and weren’t impressed, than you really don’t know what you are watching. He looked like a veteran pro.

Time will tell .. as always.
No sense crying over spilt milk, especially when that milk isn't necessarily even milk.
We as fans have three choices .. remain positive, negative or neutral in regards to pretty much everything to do with anything. So there you have it.
I think I'll sit somewhere between neutral and positve .. cause it feels better.
Go Lev, go Boisvert, go all of'em!
And at the end of the day as many have already stated .. when you have the choice between a potential R shot 1D and a potential 1W you go 1RD.

I find the Levshunov vs. Demidov debate to be interesting and yeah, the Hawks almost ended up with both. They didn't but I see it like this. Levshunov's ceiling is a #1D who plays both ways like Charlie McAvoy and those guys are hard to find. Demidov is much more dynamic as a winger and his ceiling is probably Patrick Kane - different game but same impact.

Even if Levshunov maxes out as a Brent Seabrook (in his prime) type - legit top pairing defender but not a #1 on a cup contender and Demidov ends up winning Art Ross trophies, yeah I'd rather have the Art Ross guy but I still wont hate the pick because when you have a chance at a legit #1D, you gotta go for it. Dyanmic wingers are easier to find and they have higher bust potential at the top of the draft.

I'll admit I don't know much about the upcoming draft as some others do but it looks like the Hawks will be picking near the top again and there will be plenty of forwards that project like Demidov but I don't think there's any defensemen with the potential of Levshunov this year.

The wrong kid was chosen.

I'm always gonna look at Artyom Levshunov like Dewey Cox's father looks at him.

By the way, we are playing Montreal in the 2nd to last game of the season. So we will get to see Demidov light up our team when he joins Montreal after his KHL stint

my choice would have been Demidov at 2, the possibility of Bedard and Demidov togther would have been far too tempting for me to pass up...

Demidov is putting up Michkov-like numbers on a team that Michkov couldn’t even crack last year

He legitimately has similar upside as Bedard. Cant believe we passed on that and can only hope that Lev becomes the number one we need

Imagine losing out on Kane lol, but buddy try again he’s wiping the floor with Kucherov’s stats at his age in the KHL, so ceiling can possibly be 144 point season plus if that continues. That’s the craziness of passing on him. We have such a smart GM, we should all feel warm and fuzzy inside, so smart and amazing, the one before him was even smarter, we are so lucky.
