I always joke about being goalie, but I'm pretty sure against Latvia I could lead Canada to a win lol. We will likely have more goals than they will have shots unless a miracle happens

We dont have a WJC thread, but if Schaefer is out will this benefit Akey? They’re different handedness, but is Canada set up with 3Ls and 3Rs ? Or are they off kilter anyway? Is it automatic or will their 8th guy who shoots Left draw in ?

This Canadian team looks completely average. Dickinson is like almost 2.0 PPG and they are playing his teammate who isn't even PPG on the pp over him.

Definitely concerning if it's something serious. Need him against USA. Completely healthy that team scares me.

They were playing with 4 lefties in the top 6 with Akey as the #7 so he should be able to slide in somewhere and balance the pairings.

While Canada is playing like shit there is one thing to remember and this comes from my many years attending different international hockey tournaments here in Europe over the years. Teams like Latvia make sure that they try to do their best and play the hardest against Canada--lots of eyes on the game from people who are looking for sleepers and players to fill roles in other leagues around the world. Latvia has produced a few good players that have caught fans off guard with the fact the players are not that bad. Most player who make the NHL or other leagues from Latvia were first noticed after playing against Canada because they caused Canada headaches or stress. When Latvia plays say Hungary? Not many eyes on the game. Kids playing for Latvia know full well that if they look good against the mightily Canada? Their name could suddenly be put on a list by a scout or someone else. Canada is the country every other country gets up to play against.

Yikes - cutting Senecke, Cristall, Misa, and Wood is sure looking questionable right now. Some of the picks definitely had a bit of a Zamuner vibe to them and we sure left a lot of offensive firepower at home.
