2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

I am worried about his speed. He's got great hands, but without great wheels he seems like a potential liability in the defensive end. Do you think Cole Perfetti could ever replace him on the top line? And let the younger guys sift out 2nd line roles?

I don't think it's possible but a Vilardi for Mason Mc Tavish trade would strengthen the Jets up the middle.
If he re signs long term I can see him eventually moving to the 2nd line in a few years if certain prospects really hit, a trade is possible but only if he forces it. I do not see Koal as a top line player not yet anyways.

Just me playing armchair GM but I'd offer 8.75x7. I think that's what he would get on the open market, although there's a few teams desperate to offer more. Who wants to go from the presidents trophy winning team to being in the middle of a rebuild? So we got that going for us. After losing Nik and Vilardi for extended periods of time to me its clear which one id pick out of them. 25 yr old with chronic back problems and an ameican girlfriend who might want to live a bit closer to home. Just lots of questions, I do like him as a player but with Iafallo able to fill that void too.. only if the moneys right.
Like I said... I doubt it will be a money thing

It'll come down to interest by both parties

On another front I would be very careful with the contract extended to Vilardi, not withstanding injury concerns he really is a hot and cold player.
Vilardi is extremely good net front, his hands not only for goal-scoring but playmaking can be lethal. i wouldn't doubt a "top plays of the Jets this year" video would be littered with Vilardi highlights. and i think he adds quite a bit in defensive awareness.

i do think the difference b/w ehlers and vilardi and their usage imo showcase how much more credit or recognition should be given in ehlers' production this year, & how much less reliant he is of good 5v5 linemates.

Player/PPG/% of overall TOI with Scheifele

Vilardi/0.86/93%
Ehlers/0.91/24%

the injury case i think is an important note for both. but i hear it less on here with Vilardi. i've hardly, maybe never heard of an athlete's back getting better as they age. but im no doctor.

Another plus with Vilardi is his board play whether he has the puck or goes in and takes it. He does do a lot of the dirty work on that line. All I ask is a little more consistency game to game.

Wonder if the Jets go after Nelson hard in the offseason? I'm sure there will be a few teams looking at him, so the Jets may be outbid by a more desperate and desirable team. You would think that Colorado would look in another direction rather than pay $6+M to Nelson in FA, but you never know.

his last couple months of the year prior to getting hurt he was kind of mid. and i don't think he's had the strongest playoffs. he's one of the 2 or 3 top-6ers the Jets can use a bit more from offensively this series.

Ok 8.5 then.. makes more sense to me now. They're probably trying to get a bit of a discount, Ehlers wants market value. I'll trust the process, get it done chevy

Guys what jersey do I get? I have a Burmistrov jersey from 2012 which, obviously, aged like milk. I have a Laine jersey from 2018, which aged slightly better but ultimately not well either.

My favourite Jets are Samberg, Scheifele, Ehlers, Perfetti and Vilardi. WHO IS STAYING LONG TERM BESIDES SCHEIFELE?
Samberg or Perfetti

I have been using Fiala as Ehlers comparison since last season and people here thought it was insane to offer him a matching deal to 55/37.

To be honest Chevy just has to find a way to re-sign Ehlers, I really don't care the AAV or term he has to offer just offer whatever to get it done and worry about everything after. That second line and top unit PP goes to the stone age without him. Open the checkbooks Chevy... he has earned it!

Anyone want Roslovic for 2nd line centre next season?

Tavares, Marner and Roslovic are the targets for the Jets in FA that I have been looking at. Out of those 3 Roslovic is the most realistic but he sucks defensively and won't be let to play C. I am looking at him more in a middle-6 winger role who can move up the lineup in an injury pinch.

I wouldn't have an issue with Jack as a middle 6 RW. But don't see him solving the 2C hole.

Tavares at least has had 1-2 nice things to say about Winnipeg as opposed to Roslovic

I think the Roslovic in Winnipeg era is over. He did not seem to enjoy his time here.

I would be surprised if J T leaves the Leafs, I suspect they would come to a deal both sides can live with

My personal to do list this offseason and heading into next years trade deadline.

1. Sign Ehlers - hopefully to nice deal in the $7.5-8.5 x 7-8 years seems like a good ballpark to start.

2. Sign Samberg - I think somewhere in the neighbourhood of $5.8-$6.9 x 7-8 years is a good place.

3. Sign Vilardi - I think he'll only want a shorter term deal but I think $6.5-7.5 x 5-8 years is the range.

4. Bring back Barron, Kupari and possibly Fleury, let the rest including Appleton and Tanev walk. As much as I'd like to keep Tanev we can't afford him.

5. Try and get Rashevsky to come over on a 1 year ELC, probably in the 950k range.

6. Dump Schenns contract at the 2025 draft if possible for a later pick, not to concerned if we dump him after but the higher ends of the salary projections will likely demand it. Either way he needs to go before next season starts.

7. With the higher ends of our cap projection we will likely need to find our 2C from within. Give Perfetti, Lambert and Yager a long look there in camp. Hopefully one of them sticks and we can move Names down to bottom 6 with Lowry or Barron.

8. Hopefully Salomonsson is ready to make the NHL jump next season as that would be a huge benefit to our Dcore on the right side. So give him a long look in camp and hopefully he makes the jump.

9. At the higher ends of my cap projections we should have $1,000,000-$2,000,000 in space without resigning Fleury, Apples or Tanev and trading Schenn. So we won't be able to do much tinkering with signings in the offseason. We'll have to look for trades to improve the roster.

10. We have a lot of young guys that could potentially step in and make an impact next year if given the chance in Yager, Lambert, Chibrikov, Barlow, Rashevsky if he comes over and Salomonsson so hopefully they all get the chance to prove if they are ready.

Don’t resign Appleton Tanev
Could do better with other FA
Trade Schenn Stanley contracts
Consider Buying out Nino
Re Sign Ehlers Fleury
Looking for one or more of Ford/Lambert/Chibrikov to be impact player for the Jets next season

Trading Stanley might be a bit premature unless we can find ourselves another LHD in FA. How much room we have to operate with this offseason is really hinging on if we sign Ehlers and for how much. He could easily get $10m thrown at him in FA. Only upside is we can offer him an extra year and he doesn't have to move.

Stan is a nice piece to keep around in that 6-8d D role. I'm sure Chevy will working hard to re-sign Fleury as well. Although, as a UFA, he may have played his way into a nice pay raise. I think if Haydn had been a home grown talent we'd be making a much bigger fuss about him.

He had some nice moments this playoffs for sure but also a few off moments. I think he's likely going to want a bit more than we can afford if we resign Ehlers. It would be nice to have him as a puck moving option in the press box over Heinola who is just a bit too small and doesn't seem to bring much more than Fleury was.
