Initially i felt let down that we didnt get brock, but honestly im already over it.

This years block is weak. When the Palamino Dance floor is packed with a bunch of 4s.... It Makes brock (a 7 at best) look like a 10.

Brock may be the biggest fish out there this year, but honestly im not sure he pushes a team to the finish line.

Chevy might scramble for leftovers, but Hopefully he finds something no one else realized was available.

My mistake! When I googled Richie, it gave me the stats for Nick Richie not Calum, so everyone is right saying Yager would be the equivalent.

Yikes, he's a good 2C but that is a steep price.

I'd do something similar for a 2C with term.

Nelson is past his prime. I wouldn't have done Ritchie straight up. If they paid that much, you can be certain they intend on extending him too. They need to win the Cup to make that trade look good.

Chevy rightly held out on that one.

ROR still potentially an option. Maybe.

Our 1st is absolutely in play now for a defenseman with term. Just need it to be the right guy.

There will be some decent bargains, just gotta wait it out til lunch time or so. We can improve 3 bottom of the lineup positions on our roster for half what Colorado paid for Nelson.

I know some are predicting doom and gloom in the playoffs if certain moves aren't made but I really like the makeup of the team especially with the top line playing like they can and the other 3 lines contributing. The X factor is Helle and if he can continue his play from the regular season into the playoffs this year then the Jets can compete. Sometimes a trade to make your team better just isn't there for a multiple of reasons.

Based on the return, Chevy would have had to put Yager on the table to be competitive for Nelson. I'm glad he didn't

This. Totally agree. And even then, Ritchie is a higher ranked prospect - I’m not sure we even had the « card » to play in this negotiation even if we wanted to. Either way, I’m glad we didn’t give up a top prospect like yager and potentially more to match or surpass this Ritchie et al offer. Nelson is good, but let’s not get totally carried away here.

Yes I’ve noticed that when we get around 11am and beyond, some « sellers » get antsy and they gotta move the pieces that they intended to move, and the prices go down. Also, some of these teams (e.g., avs) don’t have their top cards to play anymore. I found it interesting last year what we paid for Monahan & TT compared to what other teams paid for top rentals (yes, I know Monahan wasn’t an 11th hour add, but I didn’t feel like we overpaid for arguably the second best rental C). There are players still out there.

And as an aside, our team looked good tonight without any rentals on it.
