I think it’s gonna be Nelson or Laughton if Nelson doesn’t work out
D add could be Oleksiak, but most likely a bottom pairing RHD and maybe someone like Dumoulin
I get a feeling Tanev will be making a reappearance in WPG and we might pick up a depth RW as well

As long as TB isn't bidding up any of Chevy's targets -- I'll be a happy camper.

Those guys are not afraid to pay up and get their player(s) they covet.
How many players have Tampa on the their no trade clauses? Not anyone that golfs.
100%. Not sure how much more Francis will look to move now (just from a perspective of him icing a roster next year), but I would hope Chevy is on the phone.

Looking at the trade, if you remove the depth pick and Essyimont, to me its sort of a late 1st for Gourde, and a late 1st and 2nd for Bjork.

McCann would be more, so a 2025 1st + ?

That's a crazy return for Bjorkstrand. Considering that he was traded to Seattle as a 28 goal scorer for a 3rd and 4th round pick.

I could see something like a Rantanen for an extended Ehlers swap, if Ehlers has let the Jets know he isn't going to re-sign here. Carolina gets a long term piece that would fit their team like a glove and the Jets upgrade their rental.
While I think there’s a less than 1% chance of it happening - or a better way of putting it, a 99% chance that Jets are one of the 9 teams on Rantanen’s no trade list - this would be a win-win and a perfect hockey trade for both teams.

Bringing back Armia would be a very underwhelming deadline deal. Sounds like it's a seller's market.
I like Armia to compete with Appleton. You're seeing Appleton getting blown up on the boards. Armia is a much more solid player.

And RW is the weakest depth position on the Jets, especially RH shots.

He seems like he could help Kupari or Lowry and probably most importantly the PK.

Any word on Kupari's injury?

NMC are overblown. Players with NMC have to provide a list so they have to put someone on the list even knowing they are unlikely to be asked to waive. What are the make likely teams to add?

Canadian teams. And usually all the Canadian teams. So when people say Winnipeg is number one, I don’t believe any player has a one team no trade list. So if you have a six team no trade list and you put Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto etc is Winnipeg number one? No there are six teams. They aren’t ranked.

Why Canadian teams? Because most players play in the U.S. Canada has higher taxes. A player who travels all season may not care but his wife and kids do.

A rental should have no issue waiving for the jets because even if they have a wife and kids, they aren’t likely moving them to any city whether it’s Miami or Las Vegas or Winnipeg for the last 2-3 months of the playoffs. And players want to win.

Players with term have every right to consider their future and their family. I don’t take it as a hate Winnipeg thing. If anything it’s a not knowing Winnipeg thing or the only thing they know is what they see as the road team. Drove from airport to hotel which is bleak. Walk around the fairmont which is kinda bleak. Might be -30. If all you saw was that would you commit to 5-7 years here with your kids?

When the jets were bought Andrew Ladd came to Winnipeg on his own to fact find for the other players. Is there millionaire housing? Nice neighbourhoods? Good schools? Is there work for the wife? What can we do when we have 2-3 days off?

Jets like to try to convert rentals and have been successful many times.

Blake Nelson is a Minnesota boy. The weather won’t bother him. Now would I have live in twin cities or Winnipeg? If I was American it’s an easy choice. But being close to home and family leaves him two options. Minnesota and Winnipeg. Maybe he wants to live in Miami. Who knows.

Considering he's a rental and wouldn't have to commit to here for more than a few months I feel like his no trade clause wouldn't be as much of an issue.

around what Bjorkstrand got id be comfortable with. From the names rumored to be available id move a 1st+ for it'd be Rakell, Mccann. Nelson i think a 1st but not much else.

Dreger on Insider Trading:

Jets remain interested in Brock Nelson. Says if that is a no-go, they like Armia as a bottom 6 option.

LeBrun says Montreal has set a high price for Armia, they aren't interested in a 4th round pick or something like that. The Habs are also only trading one of Armia or Savard, so if someone steps up and pays the price for Savard, Armia is no longer available.

Jets would also like a veteran defenceman. also saying "They have the prospects coming to facilitate trades" was his final line.

Chevy will screw the pooch if he goes after the Habs deadwood.

They can keep both. No interest

Could of brought him back for free in the '23 season when the Habs put him on waivers.
Just a reminder that Armia has more playoff goals than Ehlers. And it only took him one playoff year to accomplish this. One that eliminated the Jets.

By extension he has more playoff goals than Iafallo, Appleton, Perfetti, Kupari, Barron and Gustafsson.

And currently has better PK metrics than all the Jets forwards, except Connor, and Appleton, who has been used sparingly.

His 10 regular goals would place him 8th among Jets forwards. 3 of which are SH goals.

Seems like an area of improvement?

Would have loved bjorkstrand. Perhaps as a countryman he and Ehlers would both want to stay. Oh well.

Armia is good depth but can’t give up much. If it’s Nelson or Armia that makes no sense.

If jets don’t upgrade they will be a first round out.

Philly wants a first for Laughton which shouldn’t happen. Jets are interested in both him and risto? Is there a deal around both that includes the jets 1st?
