Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

What's with the constant rumors along the lines of Armia/Evans?

Is HFHabs board running the media now? Are we going to play Evans on Scheifele's line so he doesn't get skittish? Does Scheifele stop getting boo'd if Evans is a Jet?

Isn't Armia on the wrong side of 30 and what exactly does he bring? Is he better than Appleton? I'm not convinced.
Looking at the Edge date Armia and Appleton pretty much match up. Almost exactly, in their roles. Apples is a slightly better skater, but not in a significant way. Armia is the better shooter. I think the extra 20 lbs Armia has might be an advantage on the boards, NHL edge doesn't track one on one battles obviously. The other distinct advantage I'd give Armia is on the PK, where he is playing over 2 minutes a night in that role. And with really good numbers to show for it.

With Parker Ford getting a shoulder injury I could definitely see the Jets tracking for a RW. In our best ever playoff year there was a lot of battle there, between Roslovic, Armia and Tanev for playing time.

It's never bad to have some depth, as last year's failed AJF experiment in the playoffs, two injuries deep, showed how quick it can be tested.

I’d much rather upgrade the middle six and push Appleton down than try to upgrade the 4th line. Think of how great this bottom 9 would be:

Ehlers-Lowry-Tuch
Nino-Namestnikov-Perfetti
Iafallo-Kupari-Appleton

If you want to see a meltdown, go back and read the responses when i suggested he was going to be our 2C and not perfetti... the bowness lynch mob was out haha

I get tired of the continuous 'boogeymen' arguments on here... no one is saying ehlers can do no wrong. But i dont know what games your watching if you think hes not going netfront and in the corners... he was the one in the slot the most on our two powerplays - scheif has been far more perimeter since the break than ehlers.

I do think the ehlers/perfetti combo is too small for the playoffs - the ehlers-lowry-iafallo line looked really good... would like to see more of that
PP is a little different than 5 on 5 because there is that extra space. He has to play inside the box because that's the system with him and Vilardi, as Arniel explained it. But yes I do see Scheif staying far away, and Vilardi going less to the back post at this time of year, when you might want to stay healthy.

I agree with you on different potential combinations. To change the look.

I also wonder about moving Barron/Iafallo up and Nino/Apples down at this time of year, because Barron's speed complements Lowry well, gives that hard forecheck. We've seen it coming out of the PPs as the next line up. Iafallo I can't put numbers to it, but it seems like he wins more battles than loses.

Would love Tuch but he has trade protection. We are probably one of the 5 teams on his no trade list.
Nobody ever said he was up for trade either. It said that they are receiving calls on his availability that does not mean he is trying to be traded. He's from the area and he stated that he likes playing there so why would Buffalo trade him?

Agreed, at some point Buffalo needs to try to maintain their good players and compete. He's one of their best and if he's game to reupping in a year shouldn't be going anywhere.

I find this time of the year gets silly as some of the names out there aren't available but people put them out there for clicks anyhow.

FYI for people saying we don't need to do anything, we lost ford/chib for the season, were going to have injuries so we will 100% going to need more depth, I prefer to do that by pushing guys down the lineup but if that's not available we still need to add some to the bottom six
Morgan baron back.. gustafson and lambert can easily fill holes if needed.. ford and chibrikov probably wouldn't be utilized anyway if someone went down.

if 2 forwards go down 1 of lambert/JAD are in the line up... we clearly need more depth...

I really don't want armia, I prefer someone that can actually jump into the top 6 if there is an injury there, apparently laughton doesn't want to be move and philly may do right by him

I was just throwing pit random names. Could see Bertuzzi on our third line. He has some spunk and skill. Not sure how he'd be in the room though.

Edit: NM, thought he was on an expiring deal. Hmm, hard to say who I want as it's mostly just a who's who of mediocre bottom 6 guys being mentioned a lot.

yup the perfetti stans on here are quick to hate on every player that usurps him or producing better than him. they goal-seek with some ridiculous bias or sliding criteria to prop him up. i remember you getting shitted on, even i had reservations, of Names at 2C.... 2 years later, Names is still 2C. really, if anyone wants to blame Chevy & the Jets for not having proper a proper 2C it's because Perfetti has failed to live up to the hype bestowed on him by certain posters on here.

ehlers PO performances def deserve criticism. & imo PO reservations of that second line are warratnted with him, namestnikov (never been a top-6er in the POs), and perfetti who got benched last year. i think the Jets may need a middle-6 upgrade. the top finishers at 5v5 are CSV, Ehlers and Lowry. that's fine in the regular season, but i think for the POs it'd be of benefit to get another middle-6F. whether it be C or W. there should be an abundance of Wings available like most TDLs.

Tuch would be a great get for the Jets, they've been linked to them in the past too. I did read Dreger saying that the Sabres are more interested in roster players.... i can't see the Jets subtracting roster players (no don't think BUF accepts Logan Stanley ) at this point. I think Tuch is more of an off-season trade, if roster players is the sole criteria.

I'd rather have Lambo called up then O'Reilly in a trade. The playoffs is willpower, passion and desire. That's why some guys disappear. Ryan had his day, but it's gone. He slow now

I wonder if someone like Gus would interest the Sabres. He’s got some potential and could enter the lineup right away.

Quietly, the Jets' 3rd pair of Stanley-Miller is putting up some solid goal and expected goal balances. I'm still concerned for the PK and depth, though.

Yeah I don't know why they keep FAFO-ing with pulling Miller in and out to see what Stanley looks like with anyone else, when they should really be pulling Stanley in and out to see what everyone else looks like with Miller.

That 90% GF seems like a certain regression candidate. Hopefully it doesn't all happen in mid to late April...

Nelson has rental written all over him, I like the player, think he would have better chemistry with KC than Ehlers. Reilly Smith would help this team, and the Jets have brought in a couple of players already from the Knights team that eliminated them. He's a guy who could be valuable in the playoffs.

I'd like to see Chevy make a hockey trade if possible. Something like Ristolainen and Foerster from Philadelphia for 1st (this year or next), Barlow, Jacob Julien who is playing with a few Flyers prospects on the London Knights, Rashevsky and maybe a d prospect like Garret Brown.

Add some scoring to the RW position with not a lot depth there.

Ristolainen, I think if the Jets get into some 4 on 4 situations they'd still like better skaters out there than De Melo, Miller and Stanley. And I say 4 on 4 because I'll always remember that Buff and Myers 4 on 4 that blew open the Nashville game in round 2. Just don't ask me to remember which game it was. But if there is one player in the starting lineup who was been sat healthy this year it's Colin Miller, and I wonder if he is fully recovered from his injuries earlier in the year. Top 4 defense is going to be the big factor in the playoffs beyond goaltending. Maybe Jokiharju would be a target there.
