Detroit has cleaned up a ton in the last 8 years since I've been here (Specifically downtown). This just isn't true anymore.

Add in the OG6 history, the available surrounding rich areas, very new arena, Lake Life and no Denver doesn't have it beat. Not even close.

Doesn't come close to the lifestyle available in Seattle either with Salt Life, and Skiing all available within 45 minutes of eachother with pretty temperate climate rarely under 40 degrees or over 90. The rapid elevation change from sea level to high elevation as you go west allows for some crazy stuff all within a close proximity.

I've lived in or near all three cities, and Denver is "nice" but not that exciting by comparison.

It's interesting the perceptions people have.

I've been all over, and lived all over as well. I just don't see a major difference between these cities in terms of entertainment options. Just my opinion.

Each has their own specific niches, that would appeal to specific people, for different reasons, but in general I don't see someone turning down Denver, because they can have more fun in Detroit, Seattle, SLC, etc. It's not a big enough edge if at all. That was my point.

A lot of these cities are really spread out too, which cuts down on the entertainment value if you gotta drive an hour to do things. This applies to an extent to the big city adjacent teams like the Isles, Devils, and Sharks.

The only cities I think have a real advantage for lifestyle are NYC (for the entertainment and restaurants), Miami and Tampa (for the beaches, girls, and no state tax) and to a lesser degree LA, Anaheim, Vegas, and Toronto (though TOR has negative value to some) but they all have to be good teams at the time too, because LA and Anaheim have everything, but haven't drawn well lately.

Cant remember the last time the Avs knocked it out the park on deadline day. Rob Blake trade? I felt pretty good after the Barnaby, Gratton, Vannanen pick ups but really hated Salo for Tom Gilbert lol

If I recall Salo started 1 game and got called in for another when Aebischer got pulled. Im almost certain Salo started against Phoenix and made a penalty shot save in OT against Mike Comrie? Not sure it was OT but im almost positive it was against Comrie and the Yotes.

2022 deadline was solid. It didn’t get us a superstar players, but it got us the exact pieces we needed to win the cup and we did

I mean Lehky and Manson was as good a TDL as you can get imo.

Don't under estimate him Val. I can see a player just ready to explode here. I have 100% faith in the next 18 months, he'll be a near on a point-per-game player playing for "some" team - whoever that is.

I don't know about that, but Mitts is smart enough to lean defense, and make outlet passes so Drouin and Nuke can push the pace. I also see Mitts trusting he's going to have outlets when holding onto the puck.

It's subtle, and needs to continue to improve, but with Nuke he's looked better more consistently, and that line is spending extended time in the Ozone.

Yeah Lehky comes to mind and bonus: he has not concussed Peter Mueller (yet).

I'm ok with keeping Mitts at 2C if they can't find a deal. If he can get back to 60 point Mitts, they can win with that, if other guys stay healthy.

But they really gotta do something about the top 4 D, or they're not serious about winning this year.

They have the assets to bring in a good defenseman. Especially if that's all they're getting. They should be able to pull something off for a good top 4 RD.

I feel like we’re about to get the classic:

“We looked to make an addition, but the prices didn’t align with what we were willing to pay. We still have a lot of faith in this group and believe we have what it takes to win this year.”

Followed up by a disappointing second round exit.

I hope I’m wrong!

CMac's press conference today was a little depressing. He kept saying the team was "working to secure a playoff spot" and basically that there are a lot of good teams and he thinks Colorado is one of them. It was a far cry from the normal spin (i.e. "Our goal is the Stanley Cup").

I have a ton of confidence CMac is going to make more moves. But I don't have a lot of confidence that they'll transform the team into a cup favorite.

Yeah he is down playing expectations already. Not a good sign.

I don’t think they have enough to bring in a top 4 d and another forward.
I highly doubt they’re gonna strip down most of their futures

Nah I want him out for Naz or another 2C that plays like Naz. Need a touch more sand in the top 6. For sure bring in a top 4 D and maybe add another depth player where you dont have to play Kivi every night and this team can do some damage.

Toews-Makar
Girard-TDL Guy
Lindgren-Manson

I think the reality is that the moves aren’t out there to turn them into a favorite. They’ll be a typical contender where things need to go really well for them to win.

If they could get a Nelson/Gourde/Schenn/Laughton type of guy and keep Mitts it would give us amazing flexibility at 2 & 3C. Depending on the matchup Casey could play up or down. We could do a lot worse.

Reminds me of the year/years the Canucks were top heavy with the Sedins but had the Malhotra line as a beast of a shutdown line (sometimes second or third line) Granted they didn’t win the cup but the Nucks suck and they don’t have the Colorado River either!!

If the plan is to keep Mitts, I hope CMac at least gets some kind of a center for insurance, in case Mitts continues to struggle, someone can step into the 2nd line and do a decent job
If you are unsure and need to get insurance in case Mittelstadt cant do his job just get rid of him for someone you dont need insurance on. I say just stop messing around and go get Mason Mactavish.
