If you are unsure and need to get insurance in case Mittelstadt cant do his job just get rid of him for someone you dont need insurance on. I say just stop messing around and go get Mason Mactavish.
Is McTavish even available? I’m not sure why the Ducks would trade him

Nah I want him out for Naz or another 2C that plays like Naz. Need a touch more sand in the top 6. For sure bring in a top 4 D and maybe add another depth player where you dont have to play Kivi every night and this team can do some damage.

Toews-Makar
Girard-TDL Guy
Lindgren-Manson

I mean I totally agree. He's been brutal. Even the two games that bookended his goal game, he was absolutely terrible. That's why he ended up with 13 minutes the game after he finally scored a goal.

I wrote down timestamps of all his terrible unforced turnovers and lost physical battles to point them out, but it got to the point where if I put a video out there highlighting them, it might actually impact his value, so I decided against it.

I think what's best for both Mitts and the team is to find a trade to somewhere he's a better fit, because the problem is he won't change his game. He keeps trying to play like Peter Forsberg, with 1/4 of the strength, and on a team with higher skating demands than anybody else in the league. He can be better, around a 60 point guy, maybe more in a good year, but it doesn't feel like it will be in Denver.

But if they can't find a deal in this sellers market for 2C's, then I still think they can win, if Casey just gets a little better, and guys like Val, Lehky, Necas, etc stay health ish and make up for his faults, and they trade for a damn defenseman.

I'm 90% sure we're done on D. They even mentioned they want Manson and Lindgren on separate pairings.

The only thing we may do is swap out Malinksi or Kylington for a slight upgrade, but that'll be a bottom pair move. Lindgren was our big D add. The rest will be on forwards, especially since Landy isn't back pre-playoffs.

Agree that if Mitts doesn't move another C would be nice in some form. Still think Gourde makes some sense in that case given acquisition cost might be low. I'm leaning toward that they are going to be keeping Ritchie around for another season at least, unless our C depth fails (likely) and another option opens up in the summer

Yah those cute little 10 foot passes through players that get turned over all the time. It has to drive Jared crazy. Foppa was the master of those passes. Casey did have a pretty good playoffs last season and thats the only real positive I see in coming him if they do. If he has a shitty playoffs then he needs to be dealt at the draft.

Yeah, they legit result in turnovers like 90% of the time. It's his decision making that's the problem. He's choosing to make these very low percentage plays, when he's seen the results all year, and still won't simplify his game.

To make it worse, he chooses to engage in physical battles while he has the puck, that he also loses 90% of the time, becasue he's not anywhere strong enough to play that style.

Or instead of having some patience with the puck, and then passing to the open guy, he tries to beat multiple guys himself, and just turns it over. Last game I saw him get to a loose puck in the corner, and if he just would have waited 1 second, Lehky slid back in the slot and was open for a one timer, but instead he choose to engage his happy feet and skate down low to try and beat three guys behind the net.

It's very frustrating.

Damn. Who said this Bedsy? Maybe that's just temporarily. Shit probably not.
I'm surprised anyone ever thought otherwise TBH. I didn't think we were ever adding 2 new dmen without shipping one out.

Kylington has shown flashes and Manson is usually a playoff beast, so I don't think it's as much doom and gloom as you and Kingslayer are suggesting. That's why Jones was such a big miss though.

But we definitely aren't winning anything with a Mitts-Drury 2C & 3C. IMO we could afford to add 2 more top 9 forwards while shipping one out (cough Wood). Plus there's plenty of those out there.

Drouin - Mack - Nuke
Lehks - extra C (Gourde) - Necas
Colton - Mitts - scoring F
Kivi - Drury - LOC
Vesey, Kelly

Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
Lindgren - Malinski/Kylington

I predict 2 additions. Either 2 depth forwards (one of them for the top 9)
Or
1 depth forward and 1 depth D.
In CMac's presser he said they're looking to make one more move.

And they're also at 22 guys on the roster so if they add two they need to send someone out.

I think they add a forward after striking out on Nelson.

CMac's press conference today was a little depressing. He kept saying the team was "working to secure a playoff spot" and basically that there are a lot of good teams and he thinks Colorado is one of them. It was a far cry from the normal spin (i.e. "Our goal is the Stanley Cup").

I have a ton of confidence CMac is going to make more moves. But I don't have a lot of confidence that they'll transform the team into a cup favorite.

No..

We need to definitely not treat this team in any way like it's automatic. This year's team has a lot to prove, and we all know there is something to be said for the experience of adversity going into the playoffs.

Acting like they're automatically in would be a mistake. Everyone needs to know THIS year's team hasn't been good enough.

I thought it was the right way to act. From management to Mack they need to be humble, and put on the work boots.

Mack and Makar cannot do it alone.

Cant remember the last time the Avs knocked it out the park on deadline day. Rob Blake trade? I felt pretty good after the Barnaby, Gratton, Vannanen pick ups but really hated Salo for Tom Gilbert lol

If I recall Salo started 1 game and got called in for another when Aebischer got pulled. Im almost certain Salo started against Phoenix and made a penalty shot save in OT against Mike Comrie? Not sure it was OT but im almost positive it was against Comrie and the Yotes.
Lehkonen
Manson
Cogliano
Sturm
Cup

I was ust going to say I think if they take a swing it'll be for Nelson. I honestly think with Blackwood the D will be okay if they all play to their capabilities (maybe a big IF)

Nelson really solidifies the forwards and allows Mitts to slide down to a more sheltered role to hopefully add some secondary scoring with Colton.
