Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

My weather app says in Winnipeg right now it’s -26…I shivered just reading that.
In Whitehorse it’s -21…and still dark…sun won’t rise for another hour then it’s only up for 10 hours…no thanks. I’d take the colder temps with the longer days.
I’m in Niagara in southern Ontario…I might as well be going to the beach…only -4

Whitehorse is fractions of a degree warmer in Jan, Feb. Colder in the other 10 months of the year and winter is about a month longer. And then there are the short days. I didn't look into wind chill. That an be very significant.

No thanks….I’m a character guy and he doesn’t cut it for me.
Every time I see him play I spend the whole game hoping someone finally ends his career, and that wouldn’t change if he was a Jet.
Guy is a weasel, and the most deserving of that one big hit that finishes his career off.
I am honestly amazed that when he as licking people’s faces, no one put him in the hospital…I sure as hell would have.

I can't wish that kind of injury on anyone. If I could, he'd be first in line. I'd certainly like to see someone land a good one square on his nose. I mean a really good one.

Youve never been to the Yukon have you... winter is not a month longer. Winter is longer in churchill yes... not here.

Hey bob, I didn’t realize you actually LIVE in Yukon!

I want to just call out, for both you and the msg board, those screengrabs I posted are just averages - I would actually defer to someone who’s lived in both places to assess the winters.

Cheers!

Garret rating lowry as line 1... interesting - maybe he actually is our add

Based on garret optimal lineup is
Connor-lowry-ehlers
Nino-scheif-vilardi
Iafallo-gus-perfetti
Barron-kupari-apples

Interesting to consider barring the 'intangibles'

Im actually highly concerned about being inanna'd because i live in atlin, whitehorse and churchill and visit my parents in riverton/hecla... so my posting history has a ton of holes in it haha

@Inanna be on call for advice for Bob!!

WTF is Garrett!?

Lowry ain’t a first line centre except in an emergency.

Nino and Vilardi on the same line is a waste of both Nino and Vilardi. You want one of those type of guys on a line.

I'd think long and hard about doing it, our roster would be insane. We would have to win a cup or it would not be worth it at all. We'd be headed for dark days either way but it doesn't matter if you secure the cup.

No idea how that impacts our UFAs coming up either. We'd be adding like 15mil

Connor - Scheifele - Vilardi
Perfetti - Thomas - Ehlers
Nino - Lowry - Appleton
Names - Kupari - Iafallo

Morrissey - Parayko
Samberg - Pionk
Stanley - DeMelo

The trouble is that you can't guarantee a cup, no matter how good your roster looks on paper.

Strome might be a good add. He'd probably be a small upgrade offensively on Namestnikov. He also has good speed from what I remember.

Not really sure on the cost for him.

I doubt we can fit both those players in contract wise.

Edit: We can't. We project to have about $7.5 million of space and those two have $10.4 million worth of cap hits.
Strom a small upgrade over names?

Go look at both of those players career statistics.

When Strome was on a good team he thrived offensively.

The two aren’t even comparable stats wise IMO.

I hope Chevy tries to pry McLeod out of Buffalo. Don’t think Kevyn Adams is the sharpest GM out there. McLeod would be such a great fit for now and moving forward as he is only 25.

At centre they already have Thompson, Cozens and Kulich who appears ready to breakout for them. Tuch is a rw/center as well.

Them moving Cozens seems more like an off-season type of move anyway if they do in fact move him.

McCann could be a solid move if he’d waive his NTC.

He's been a low 40 player the last 3 seasons playing 17 minutes a game. I'm sure he'd get more help here but hed also be getting less minutes and wouldn't be on the top pp unit any longer. I'd imagine there wouldn't be much change in his production given his role would be smaller here.

Don't know if Stoller has any connections, but that's a guy I've been mentioning. Seems like with his cap hit, it wouldn't negatively affect our other signings. And the Jets get some extra years of utility out of him which is good for us.

He has trade protection.

FiveHohl is an interesting resource

When i look at his analysis and others i think id be fine with this for the playoffs

Csv
Ehlers-lowry-iafallo
Nino-kupari/mctavish/copp-perfetti
Barron-gus-apples

i was a fan of names at 2C last year but id leave him as injury reserve this year

I'm not sold on this being jets best chance until I know helle can be the man, maybe the four nations gives us an indication of his play under pressure, also sick of trading firsts for rentals, jets don't have a deep prospect pool judging by the moose, also no free agents want to come here which makes our first more valuable then a team like Florida, Tampa etc.now a laughton would be a big upgrade and i still remember how good he was on the pk would be a huge upgrade from what we have on the fourth line, iafollo made me want to chuck my tv out the window last playoffs, and yes I have chucked tvs out the windows.

Whether Helle is up to a PO run or not, this is still our best chance. It just isn't all that good if he can't get the job done.

This is probably the best Jets season we’ll see for a long time. Gotta put the team in the best position to grind it out in the playoffs against a variety of opponents. I like our team but we need more depth imo. Better scoring and Stanley isn’t going to cut it in a series.

I think we can beat anyone night in night out.

But to win 4 games? Hard to see it against western heavy hitters especially Vegas, oilers, stars, and Avs owned us last year. Makar and MacKinnon are otherworldly in the post season, and then you have Mcdavid and Drai who will be on a mission to get back to the cup final, stars I still think are well built for depth, and Vegas is Vegas - has our number and is still full of talent that can swing a series.

I’m sure Helle can turn it around but he’s not going go will us to a cup by himself. We need to put goals in the other net and need to push through fatigue that did us in in 2018
