Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

Sure - we need a one two punch down the middle. There is no option available to get that. None.
Well there’s no mark scheifeles but there are options to provide depths and additional offense if needed.

I would say Brock N, ROR, Ryan Strome, schenn all fall into that category.

You could throw cozens in that mix as well but I’m not a fan of taking that on at the deadline.

So there are options. No superstars but I don’t think we would want to pay that price even if there were.

I can see Lambert getting some looks in Apples slot with Lowry and Nino and hopefully Barlow gets some looks as well.
I still don’t see Laughton as a 2C on this team and think we need better… I wouldn’t look at Laughton at all.
I think we need to make the big swing for a 2C, but who’s available and who’s willing are apparently the issues.

I guess Laughton would be OK, if the price was right.
Ryan Strome looks interesting to me.
Neither qualifies as a big swing though.

What about Teuvo Teravainen? 2 more years at 5.4 mil covers the development gap till Yager. Has trade protection but might want to play for a team with a chance.

Chevy going to big swing this year. All in on the next 2-4 years (Helley/Scheif/JMO prime) and surprise us all with Robert Thomas AND Colton Parayko BOTH:
1st in 25
1st in 26
1st in 27 (all 1sts unprotected)
One of Yager/Lambert
Barlow
Heinola
Salomonsson
One of He/Walton

Mortgage the future for our Cup window. Enough high end Capital to get STL TO BITE and full rebuild with bright future. NBA/NFL style move

Laughton may not be a 2C, but having him, Lowry and Names means that we have no 4C in the lineup either

CSV - great 1st line

Ehlers - Lowry - Iafallo - OK 2nd line

Nino - Laughton - Perfetti - OK 2nd line/great 3rd line

Barron - Names - Appleton - poor 3rd line/elite 4th line

You basically have 2 2nd lines and a 3rd line as your bottom 9
I think Kupari would stay in the lineup, as the RH defensive zone faceoff center. Keep Scheif in the o-zone. Maybe Appleton comes out.

I'd think long and hard about doing it, our roster would be insane. We would have to win a cup or it would not be worth it at all. We'd be headed for dark days either way but it doesn't matter if you secure the cup.

No idea how that impacts our UFAs coming up either. We'd be adding like 15mil

Connor - Scheifele - Vilardi
Perfetti - Thomas - Ehlers
Nino - Lowry - Appleton
Names - Kupari - Iafallo

Morrissey - Parayko
Samberg - Pionk
Stanley - DeMelo

well anyways fwiw arthur staple who covers the islanders for the athletic said from talking from people around the league it doesn't sound like nelson is ready to commit to the islanders and thinks he will ultimately end up being traded

Makes sense.

I sort of got the vibe that Lou was slow playing this as the C market is just so damn weak this year. There's no need to rush from his standpoint as there's a bevy of contenders who will come swirling in for Nelson and looking to outbid each other.

I honestly feel the Jets should let it ride as is and avoid trade deadline this year. We have a great team and I feel we fans are going to be in for a long wild ride.
Need more depth as insurance because 4 rounds of hockey is a real grind. Jets don’t need players playing above their role.

Only thought I’d Chicago cannot continue to purge veterans they’ve brought in to insulate Bedard. TT would be great though.

Like the Player but dont not sure how another LW makes sense for the Jets?
He can play C as well if needed. So while Lowry is injured you could run him as a C, and when everyone is healthy if the ENP line is still doing good you can have him with Lowry and have Nino on the right. I think a lot like Nino, he can wear different hats. Has more points than any forward on the Jets outside the top line and Ehlers.

He just provides a lot of utility IMO at a good cap hit that's also not a rental.

I wonder what the cost would be though.

That's a good one. Him and Tanev at the deadline.

I like the player but if he doesnt play C it doesnt really make sense. He's scored 40 before. He's not a 3rd or 4th liner and he's not supplanting Ehlers or Connor.

b2b weeks a new option pops up, hopefully were able to grab one of these guys and not have to settle for the laughtons of the world

It's crazy how so many seem to not understand this, yes our team is good but the playoffs are a different story and to win the whole thing you need a shitload of depth.

So yeah the whole "we don't need to add at the deadline, we have a good team" is nonsensical and just not going to fly.
Right, but for bottom 6 forward and bottom pairing defensive depth, I think they're okay.

So now we're talking top 6 / top 4 depth? Aside from Scheifele, I think there's depth to replace everyone in the Top 6.

Laughton probably makes sense as a guy who can play up and down the lineup - like having another Iafallo except he's also a center. But at what cost?
