The guy put up 70 points last year. I'd say there has to potential there, maybe a case where coach and player aren't on the same page this year.

I'd be surprised if Arniel broke from De Melo on top pairing and Chevy went heavy on another d man, but it is worth the time to say the Jets best season came from a strength at RD that hasn't been matched. One more contract year is probably the timeline for Salomonsson to be ready.
My point is that he put up 70 points last season and that is going to inflate his upcoming contract demands. The assets we'd lose to get him would be young, and on ELC's most likely, and then we'd have to sign him to something probably around 9 or 10 million (who knows with the rising cap). His overall game doesn't support that in my viewings and from overwhelming comments from Isles fans. There would be a large impact to the cap and how it affects the rest of the team signings.

That to me doesn't make us a better team. Maybe he becomes a much better 2 way guy and it works out great, but that's the reason why a fanbase (and apparently Mgmt) are skeptical on giving him a huge deal.

Possibly getting another RHD to add to that position is a different topic however and one I agree is important, especially since we don't know what will play out with Pionk.

Maybe I'm on an island here, but value, value, value should be the name of the game here. Not saying he was ever really available, but that's why I was fully on the Weegar bus vs Anderson. He's already signed long term which going forward now is going to be stupid value.

For some reason I don't think many Canucks fans want to re sign Boeser, I think the jets should try to get him. He's another Minnesota boy, went to university of North Dakota and loved it. Watching old videos of him right now his family wanted the Jets to draft him originally. Humble down to earth prairie boy who is more of a pure goal scorer. If he doesn't go to us he will likely go to MN in the off season. I would be so happy to see him in a Jets jersey even just as a rental

But can we trust a guy who insists we pronounce Boh-sir as Bes-sir?

It’s definitely not easy.

I know it won’t happen because TSNE have bought property downtown, but if Canada Life Ctr were in a different location (say where the football stadium is just for example), it would be much better IMO and I bet we’d shave 15% points off our no trade list placement.

I don't know that I would ever go to a game if the arena was there. Not saying I wouldn't but it would be a very different calculation for me.

Might be like Sens in Kanata.

Wasn't Stastny the captain of Blues when he was traded?

For some reason I see Schenn going to Vegas. Mc Crimmon has the market on Wheat Kings.

He'd be a good player for a legit run, if he's still got something in the tank.
Let him go to Vegas.
He has 3 more years at 6.5m and turns 34 this summer.
He has been dropping off the last few years and will probably continue as he ages.

I wouldn't mind boeser. As for extending him, I'm not sure. But I think that second line needs a more reliable player to put the puck in the net over namestnikov or perfetti.

There was a huge debate as to that pick... he was not the 'right choice' - it was a complete tossup between him, Lundell, Jarvis and Schneider. I wanted Lundell and think he would have been better for this team in the long run... I would be pleasantly surprised for Perfetti to prove me wrong for the next 30 games though

If we were not ever intending on playing Perfetti at C, then he was definitely the wrong choice.

Right choice for the Jets was probably Schneider. But I think Lundell would have flourished with Ehlers...
I think the original intent was to play Perfetti as a center. Chevy has even talked about drafting him as a center. Problem is none of his coaches has liked him there. To paraphrase Arniel from an interview in and around training camp is that he liked Perfetti at wing as he can be further up the play on the attack rather than supporting the play from behind. I took it mostly as a speed issue.

I was on the Lundell bandwagon that draft. He already possessed a strong defensive game and he probably would have flourished alongside Ehlers.

on insider trading lebrun said the jets stars wild and leafs all have interest in nelson if he becomes available

I was thinking about that as well. Not sure if Samberg has 1 more UFA year or 2. He's only had 4 seasons, but he also turns 27 next year. So it looks like he's be a UFA based on his age as opposed to seasons. The question is does it mean that 2025/2026 is a RFA year, but 2026/2027 is a UFA year because he turns 27 in January of that year?

But that will be a factor for sure.
Samberg is still a RFA after this season, but only for 1 more year. He is scheduled to be a UFA starting the 26-27 season. Chevy needs to lock him up long term.
