Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

Many teams will have an internal cap ceiling....this is going to ruin the competitive balance that makes hockey a great fan sport...dont like this at all

Would any one trade something around perfetti for Brandt Clarke?

Maybe a deal more geared toward the off-season.

Safe to say Rob Blake likely has Chevys number blocked after the last trade.

In all seriousness after the Vilardi trade I don't think Blake will risk trading another high end young player, the optics and backfire risk would be terrible

So if helle gets injured we just forfeit the playoffs, gotcha. I think this plan sucks for the record.
No, but, what kind of back up can give you the results that Helly has given this team? You essentially want another starting goalie behind him. Just like if Vancouver lost Hughes there is no one who can step up and fill his shoes as he is in the running for the Norris. So is Vancouver going to just throw Forbort out there and say, be the difference maker, our offense and D is now going to run through Forbort or Myers.

If Schief goes down our offense is good enough to run through Kyle Connor for a few games. If Morrissey goes down, Pionk can carry the offense and Berg can supply some of our shut down D. But, if Hellybuck the best goalie in the NHL goes down, there is no back up who can provide a 10th of what he provides.

Well, when you put it like that...

But realistically, what we'd need is a rental (I guess that's optional), somewhat proven goalie to back up Hellebuyck, that would give the Jets at least a chance (because presumably Comrie won't and we'd be highly unlikely to get a guy even in the same ballpark as Hellebuyck)...is there such a goalie who'd be available? Cam Talbot from Detroit maybe?

But even Cam Talbot is only .906 vs. Comrie's .905 this season and has a GSAA/60 of 0.14 vs. Comrie's 0.08. And Talbot is 37 with another year on his deal at $2.5M. And Detroit is 2 points out of both Eastern Conference WC spots right now.

Quick from the Rangers is rocking an .897, is older than God and has an M-NTC (maybe he'd waive to backup in Winnipeg for the playoffs...?).

Husso had a good season 5 years ago or something with the Blues.

It's slim pickings for not much real upside. It just doesn't seem feasible.

Also guys seem to like Comrie nonstop babbling on the bench if last night's Mic'd Up is anything to go by (BTW Coms, it was crab they were fishing on Deadliest Catch, and Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi was the theme song).

It's a completely different position lol why are you bringing up Hughes and Scheifele going down? I'm talking about a goalie. We're 4-7-1 with Comrie this year.. and that's with a career year Scheif and Connor playing in front of him. Come TDL there will be options for peanuts and we got money to spend.

You never seen a goalie get injured in the playoffs and the backup go on a heater before?? Hmm. Anyways. I just wanted to post it so I can quote this later if it happens and maybe plant some seeds.

I would definitely take Talbot and Quick over Comrie myself personally. I'm not trying to hate on Comrie I like the kid and he's been on and off with us forever but he's never stuck anywhere. Stats are not the greatest, this might be the only chance for this team with all the up coming ufas. All or nothing this year I say.

were 4-7-1 because we haven't scored much with him in net, who is available that is putting up above league average results?

Even if they're coming for just futures and their cap hits don't block any other acquisitions...I still probably wouldn't.

I'm bringing up Hughes because you are a Canucks fan. Who in their first post on the Jets board makes a post about our star player goes down. Which in my mind is the very definition of trolling.

Who knows who's available at TDL, some teams will go into tank mode not everything is clear yet. I'm willing to bet if we played him 5 games in a row we would lose 3 games atleast, his career stats say so (28-33). Can't be risking that in the playoffs if somehow helle gets hurt is all.

Hellebuyck hasn't been hurt though, he's not fragile like Demko. The Jets have a Vezina goalie, why are they trying to back him up with a better goalie? Who isn't going to play in the playoffs. That's a waste of assets. Comrie's record isn't great, but he's apparently a guy who will stay on the ice to take shots, give practice for the shooters, and that's a key role.

Jets we all know can't replace a Hellebuyck, Scheifele, or Morrissey injury.

he's been fine this year for someone that comes in once every 5 games and again his record would be better had he had goal support... if helle goes down nobody we can get is going to be close to him and were screwed regardless, comrie has put up league average numbers which is all you can ask for in a back up

I wonder if Philly would part with one of their three young goalies - Ersson, Kolosov, Fedotov - for a pittance.

But I agree, there really aren’t any rental options for backup goalie that would be a significant upgrade over Comrie.

I do get what Dirtyclapper is saying. I just don’t think there’s much out there to serve as a viable insurance policy if Helle goes down, unless we want to pay a ridiculous premium on that policy (so to speak).

I read that one fourth of the teams haven't made the playoffs in five years.

Bro I'm from Winnipeg, I lived there for 30 years lol I went through losing the team when I was a kid. I'm from fort Garry, I'm definitely a Jets fan. I watch all Jets and Canucks games, it took me forever to be able to support the Canucks and the only reason I was able to is because I worked for Trevor Linden and the Sedins and they were incredibly nice people. This is not my first post here lol, I used to post under the name liberty haze and I think jetsfan204 back in the day, when we first came back I made a bunch of fancy gdts, posting video of training camp on YouTube all that jazz I've just lost passwords and emails over the years mostly due to broken cellphones.

At this point i hope the Jets just add a little and not trade away much. Re-sign Ehlers and add a player maybe a forward and a defenseman but nothing major. If your car is running perfect you don't bring it in to get work done on it .:thumbu:

I like the analogy. My experience has been that something always breaks just as it enters the shop.
If it ain't broke ........
