I think the only way that JT comes back is if there are some guarantees he'll play. I don't see him as one of those desperate sods who begs for a PTO and tries to earn a spot. His last game was April 13, 2022, so it's been just under 2 years (20 months) & finished the season with 15G & 16A in 53 games, scoring at 0.58/GP. On this years edition of the Jets he'd be 5th in scoring. He also spent his last few seasons playing through injury & missed all of February & March in his final season.
See above. Although on the decline, his offensive numbers were still better than over 2/3rd of the league. 500 forwards played 50 games or more that year. Towes' 0.58/GP ranked 150 of 498.
I think it's a fair point that at 36 he could easily be washed up.
But if Toews was willing to sign at league minimum, perhaps even doing a conditioning stint with the Moose to see what he has left, I don't see what it could hurt.
Chevy certainly should putt all his eggs in one basket with expectations he's the solution at 2C. Pursue other options via trade & give Toews a PTO which costs the team nothing but pro-rated cap space.
I think you're thinking of a UTI, which is a urinary tract infectionOut with Urinary Bladder Infection? ouch that sounds painful
Just caught a segment about this on TSN. It sounds like there is serious mutual interest for this to happen. But likely not until next year...I think the only way that JT comes back is if there are some guarantees he'll play. I just don't think it makes sense. Maybe bring him in as a faceoff coach, have him around the team. He can help with his experience and hopefully improve our FO%
Isles fan coming in peace (assuming the Isles don't make the playoffs, I'll probably "adopt" the Jets for the playoffs). Some people assume that if Nelson leaves the Isles he'll want to go "home" to MIN. However, he's from Warroad, MN, which is a heck of a lot closer to WPG than it is to Minneapolis, FWIW.Brock Nelson is interesting to me. He's 33 but he can still skate and he's a big body with tons of playoff experience and success, going to the ECF twice. He has produced in the playoffs as well. He's been a top six centre his whole career. It's going to cost a first round pick for sure but maybe not much more than that... Probably a decent prospect as well. We'd have to strike first, there will be other teams interested. He has a 16 team no trade list but maybe would waive for Winnipeg in a rental situation with a good team?
No, doesn't make sense for any playoff team to do IMO.Isles fan coming in peace (assuming the Isles don't make the playoffs, I'll probably "adopt" the Jets for the playoffs). I'd love to see a trade around Nelson and Ehlers, but I assume that's not something you all would be interested in.
Physically Winnipeg might be closer, but I think he has more ties to Minny.Isles fan coming in peace (assuming the Isles don't make the playoffs, I'll probably "adopt" the Jets for the playoffs). Understood. I was only thinking it could make sense if Nelson was willing to extend and Ehlers wasn't. Otherwise, no sense in messing with something that's working so well. Good luck!Physically Winnipeg might be closer, but I think he has more ties to Minny.
Moving Nelson for Ehlers shouldn't even be a consideration. If the Jets are trading, they're looking to add to improve. Moving Ehlers for Nelson is just re-arranging the deck chairs at best, and a net negative at worst. The Jets would be looking to add a guy like Nelson without losing anyone (of importance) from the current roster.
I don't like spending on rentals, but a 1st, an ok prospect, and another depth piece is around the traditional comp.
