I did not realize he is a RD that plays LD
I don't think he is. Sanheim plays his offside. And the only other RD the Flyers have is Drysdale, who is mostly a PP guy. So I'm still not sure why Philly would trade a RD without getting one back.

I always liked Seeler from Philly, he was a tough one with Minnesota, but he's NTC and probably happy with his role under Torts.

Rangers being back in the race might take Lindgren off the trade charts again.

I'd still take a look at Maata. I've read he's soft. But he blocks a lot of shots apparently, some stats I've read say he's a consistent d-zone starter, which is something that frees up Josh Morrissey more. His PK metrics are equal to Morrissey's too, at over 2 minutes a game.

I'd see him as a player that could work with Heinola too, allowing him to play strong side.

As a cheap Winnipegger this guy would be lower than a lot of players on the market. 2nd round pick tops.

Utah has had brutal luck with injuries to their D. Maata has been a welcome add. They will have to be decidedly out of a wild card spot in order to trade him.

Worrying about a player that can play with Heinola isn't useful as he is so low on totem pole in my opinion. Doubt he gets slotted in over Stan or Fleury in playoffs unless he really starts to light things up his rare opportunity.

I have a feeling the new ownership would love nothing more than to make the playoffs in the it first season in Utah. I could see that team adding at the deadline even if they're somewhat out of the playoff picture just to try to make a push to get in

Agreed. But trading Maata for a 2nd round pick does nothing to help that goal.

Devils have gone into the tank lately, Dawson Mercer has always intrigued me

I'm not sure sitting comfortably in a playoff spot is going into the tank. They'd have to think they're really going to be out of contention for a few years to think about trading Mercer.

I think they provide the shutdown pairing with size that arniel wants
Zero points though. Neither have any O to their game. I think Pionk and Sammy play well together and if Risto came here, he would have to knock DeMelo out of the 1st pairing. I'd pay the piper and go for someone like Andersson. Somebody that would play 1st line minutes with JMo and DD would really help the 3rd pair.
Andersson and DD on the PK would be nice as well.
I'd go all in and trade for Cozens, Andersson and Frederic (if he re-signed a reasonable deal).

I like Andersson but if i was calgary i wouldnt trade him

Samberg and risto can focus on shutting down in the playoffs and leave our other two pairings to score...

Morrissey had 1 goal at even strength last playoffs because he was trapped as the shutdown pairing - samberg-risto produces points by freeing him up

Who is the 3RHD in this scenario?
Pionk or DD?

yeah, I'm pretty sure the org will want to give lowry + ehlers a long look before the deadline to see if they can work, pretty much every team is looking for centers and there are hardly any available, if those 2 can work out then they will probably go after a top 6 winger which shouldn't cost as much and be easier to find

Is it wrong to say we need to acquire a star backup goaltender? Because that's the only thing I see us needing because Comrie isn't that good of a backup. Something along the likes of Cam Talbot. May be out of my mind but John Gibson.

Would Stanley clear waivers? Honest question.

My feeling is he has trade value, not much but something.

I was wondering if Tristan Jarry would be a dark horse backup. Other than the cap hit, he used to be good. Maybe new team, no pressure, something to prove.

Quite a few goalies just need a new look.

One reason Stan is slotting in over Heinola is the PK, being careful with Heinolas injury obviously. Lately it's quite obvious Heinola is significantly better than Stan skill wise, but they like stan on the pk.

Now that Samberg is healthy, not sure why you want Stan there. Heinola can play either side as well.

...what if Arniel really is a big Heinola fan but thinks he needs a big D on that 3rd pair and would do this?

Morrissey-DeMelo
Samberg-Pionk
Heinola-Ristolainen
