I've really come around on Ristalainen. I'd make that kind deal and let Pionk walk but that's me. Not how our club typically does business.

You realize that if we did actually acquire Risto the more likely scenario is we still re-sign Pionk and in 2 years people around here are complaining about how Chevy blocked Salo with the Risto trade.

How the Jets do business is they are very okay letting prospects develop at lower levels on their ELCs. Risto's contract perfectly aligns with Salo's ELC, so they can acquire Risto and never risk losing Salo to waivers. If they acquire him with retention he becomes a very affordable and above average 3rd pairing RHD for the next 2 1/2 years.

If the team didn't play like shit the Monahan deal might have looked good. I thought he was pretty good for us.

I liked some of what Monahan brought to the table, but his lack of quickness was glaring.

He wasn’t a good fit IMO.

I'm taking Pionk over Risto all day long.

If we are trading for a RHD, why don't we pay the price and go after Andersson from Calgary?
That gives us DD to play on the 3rd pairing with Stanley/Heinola/Fleury and really shores up that 3rd pairing. It also makes Miller our 4RHD and that's not bad depth.
Then, I'd pry Cozens out of Buffalo at 1m retained. We might have to give up DD in the Cozens trade.

I'd agree with him there.

He just seems to have a more pro style game than Lambert. Just a grittier player.

Yager I'm not sure I'd say he is probably more important to us because we need a 2C and he could be that one day.
