I would keep trying this for a while to stress test “IF”.

Nik can drive a line and I do like the comparison Whileee mentioned with Lowry in the S Bennett J Staal 2nd line centre mold. Nik and Adam haven’t played together much if at all and Nik is so one of a kind that nobody knows how this might shape up. Don’t forget “IF” it works it also saves us our 1st round draft pick in 2025.

If we bail on the LE pair and make our annual move to plug this hole “AGAIN” between now and the deadline, let’s make it a hockey trade with at least one additional season of term please, hopefully more.
Why how much does a top 6 winger cost?

That Dreger segment sounded like a Chevy plant. Get the word out that they’re not desperate for a 2C, that way they don’t get ripped off like they did last season with Monahan.

Jets need a centre. Doesn’t matter how you slice it, rolling with Lowry, Kupari, Names as your C depth behind Scheifele is absolute crazy talk if you plan on competing with other Western Conference teams that are loading up.

I can definitely get behind the idea of not giving up another first round pick. I can’t really get behind the idea of rolling with Adam Lowry as our second line centre come playoff time.
If the team didn't play like shit the Monahan deal might have looked good. I thought he was pretty good for us.

So apparently, at this NJ / Philly game this afternoon, there were 14 teams, 15 scouts present. Winnipeg was the only team that sent two scouts rather than one.
Well, if they were looking at Risto and wondering about his defensive game, he put on quite the show. He was on-ice for a miniscule 0.06 xGA at 5v5, despite a majority of D zone starts. Also about 2 minutes on the PK, with only two shot attempts and 0.08 xGA. He's really turned his performance around since arriving in Philly. Jets have been rumored to have interest in Risto in the past. Philly already has a slew of future draft picks and have Drysdale and Bonk as young RHD options, so I wonder if they'd be coveting one of the Jets' winger prospects. With He and Walton taking off this season, I wonder if Barlow might be a possibility. Flyers traded a big scoring F in the Gauthier deal.

6 is where I have him as well
I'd be shocked if the Jets didn't re-sign Pionk. Top 4 RHD are up there with #1 centers in how rare they are. While he has his moments Pionk is a legit top 4 RHD. We have Salo in the fold but nothing after that. Even if Salo eventually becomes a top pairing RHD, it will be a few years from now. The way I see it unfolding is Salo plays another year on the Moose, then replaces Miller as the 3rd pairing RHD. Then as he gradually moves up the lineup, DeMelo moves down. IMO we need Pionk to be the that 2nd pairing RHD to stabilize that transition.

1st + Heinola + ?

For Laughton and Risto @50%

Connor - Scheifele - Vilardi
Ehlers - Lowry - Iafallo
Perfetti - Laughton - Nino
Barron - Names - Appleton

Morrissey - Risto
Samberg - Pionk
Stanley - DeMelo

If they do trade for a RHD with term, like Risto, Pionk's on his way out.

I'm not quite sure that will be the best offer for Risto at this point. He feels like he is only gaining more steam and has an extra year left too

Flyers already have 3 1sts and 3 2nds in the upcoming draft, and some of the pundits have been signaling that Chevy wants to hang onto his 1st this year.

Flyers could use a forward prospect. Barlow? Chibrikov?

Scott Laughton was the slowest developing prospect in recent history. Don't tell me he actually has become something of value?

did chibby play with michy?

edit: chibby is the type of prospect you'd like to keep for 7 years or so...skill and grit

He's a really good middle 6 center now
I wouldn't say Laughton is "really good". Personally, I don't see him as much of an upgrade on Lowry, Namestnikov and Kupari (though I realize that NHL managers seem to like him). I just don't think he'll move the needle much for the Jets, if at all.

Risto would be an upgrade on D, especially if his size and PK ability was a replacement for Stanley's role.

he's 93rd of qualified centres in 5v5 scoring over the past 1.5 years. not great.
His underlying metrics have been really bad, especially defensively.

NOT CHIBRIKOV.

Barlow, Yaeger, even Lambo
Yager is the keeper in that group, in my view.

I'd say Barlow might be the most expendable, even though I think he could really bounce back.

more a reference to RHD depth. think they'll keep a spot for Salmonsson next year.
I think Bogo is right about them keeping him in the AHL with Miller signed another year.

I'm not sure i like it... but with how Pionk has played this year you are probably right. Salomonsson probably has a longer path to making 2nd pair than we are anticipating. Probably 3 more years.

that's fine, blood him slowly with Miller as his caddy. But you can't have Demelo, Ristolainen and Pionk all signed for 2+ years. Seems like bad roster management. Should be fine with DD, RR, Miller and Salo going forward.

What does JFresh say about Farabee?
