Agree to disagree I still think Stan is ahead of Heinola till I see something from him.
I mean this is a board that has been trying to convince everyone that ehlr is better than Connor and that schief and Kc don't work well together, a bit unwilling to listen to herd mentality on this one until Heinola actually does something out there.

My views on third pair d esp for the PO's: give a breather to our top 4 for 10-15 mins/gp, don't take minor penalties. That hasn't been Stanley and jury still out on Heinola.

The board might think Ehlers is better and Scheif and KFC don't work well together but I sure don't hold those opinions.
Stanley's play is not at the caliber of an NHL 3rd pairing D man...plain and simple.
Heinola? We don't know yet.

Which means that we can't put Heinola above Stanley until we know one way or another. I mean stan might not be a 3rd pairing but a guy who fills in when there is injury, Heinola might not even be that.

I remember a sequence where he blocked 3 shots in a row and then cleared it out of our zone. I have seen sequences where I have been like okay if only he could do more of that. I have not seen anything from Heinola that even gives me a glimmer of what if.
I see sentences like that and think that Stanley is farther out from his draft than late blooming 8th round picks Enström and Byfuglien were when the team moved to Winnipeg, so it's probably not a sign of things to come.

Heinola might be a bust. If he is, the team will probably move on from him in a year or two. I wish they'd do that with Stanley.

so then give Heinola a chance and let's see him actually do something. It should be an easy bar for him to clear. Block a shot, steal the puck do anything.

I agree, they should see what they have in Heinola and determine whether they should move on from that draft pick, instead of just stubbornly refusing to move on from a draft pick that reached bust status like 3 seasons ago.

They should absolutely not roll Stanley out there so he can be one of the worst PKers in the league because we need to ice a D-man playing on the PK.

Heinola has showed more poise with the puck (on his off-side) than Stanley has to date.

Except last game he'd just pass it over to Stanley to clear it out of the zone or do something with it. This place really wants to convince me instead of just letting me be wrong, just like when everyone was trying to convince everyone Ehlers was our best forward.

Scheif is our best forward and I really don't think that is debatable.

I'd wait until Ehlers started playing well again and trade him. Sell high...

Hence if Heinola is coming into the lineup, Stanley should be coming out. Putting the two together is not a good recipe.

The team isn't hurt as much by KC's absence as it is by Scheif's.
Fair. That doesn't mean schief is better, that speaks to our weakness at the centre position more than anything. I think Schief is alot better than Names and Ehlers is our 3rd best forward so the gap isn't as huge. Everyone always talks about how we need a 2c.

I don't need to convince anyone just one random person's opinion.

I’m warming up to the idea of Olli Maatta that someone mentioned several pages back, unless Stanley is shipped off in the deal, Maatta will be relegated to the press box.

Honestly don’t think this organization wants to improve on their valued 2016 first round behemoth.

We had PLD when Scheif went down and the team couldn't do a thing and that was a year PLD was putting up points with KFC if I'm not mistaken.
NOBODY at any forward position has picked up the slack whenever Scheif has missed games.

Bigger picture probably as kc has never had a season playing d before. I think kc is a better offensive player and this year he has been a better defensive player. In the past kc was worse playing d and let schief and wheeler drive offensive.

We are getting off topic, I hope Heinola once again proves I’m an idiot. Both will hopefully come out on healthy team for fleury.

I don't think it hurts to just call KC and Schiefele tied. KC gets an edge with scoring and Scheifele gets an edge on the more important position. They are pretty much joined at the hip anyways. And their relationship along with some team success is hopefully enough to get Connor to re-sign long term next summer.

And Ville is undersized, totally void of a physical game, and pretty much useless when in the Jets end of the ice -
And unless he is playing with someone that will allow him to avoid playing defense, it won't matter who he plays with either.
If there was a player available that could effectively shelter Ville defensively, that player would likely be further up the lineup - probably with JoMo.

There are a lot of fans on this board right now that will not even try to understand why Stan is playing and is likely ahead of Ville - they need a big dman that can be physical, will drop the gloves when needed, and can kill penalties. Stan does those things - maybe not to the level you'd like to see, but he's the best we have at this point.
And until another big dman comes along that can do those things, they will continue to work with what they have.

I don't think you know that about Ville yet. Not the way he is being used. I don't think it is a fair shot on his off side with a defensively challenged partner. Lets see him play 10 games with Miller. Then tell me how bad he is.

True he's not big, but he is as big as about half the Dman in the league these days. He's similar in size to Morrissey and Pionk. I'd love to have a guy who could skate like Ville and was 6'3, 215. Let me know when one becomes available. I'm not impressed by big guys who can't skate.

This will be an unpopular opinion but either Nik re signs or gets moved, I have no appetite for a self rental especially if the Jets flame out in the first round he does nothing in the first round then walks to free agency. Ask his agent if he has a preference where he would like to go and move him. I say this with Nik being my favorite Jets player but this team especially this team cannot lose an asset for nothing.

Fleury has been just as fast I think and berg isn’t much slower.

Agree, but we’ve needed that guy ever since Statsny’s first go-round in 2017-18. It’s the eternal TDL signing / 1st-rounder giveaway.

Yager looks to be that guy. Hopefully his time comes sooner rather than later.

And that is another reason to not rush out and rent another C. And I realize we are in win now mode. If we are going to spend assets lets look at RHD - with term please.

And how about pionk. this season is more out of the norm positively for pionk than anything.
