The Habs board absolutely HATES Matheson.

Like, as much as we hate Stan
You're listening to the same board that said PLD wouldn't even get Dach as a return... okey dokey then.

And yeah, thats exactly why I think he's the best trade target - he's a super solid 2nd/3rd pairing guy who's playing 24 mins a game... His style fits Arniel's system and scoring D on all three pairing changes our playoffs...

Since you're quoting the Canadiens HFBoard as a quality source... then go see what they had to say about Kovacevic - judging by their reviews he WOULD be on Team Canada

How does he get those points? Are we kicking Ehlers off the top PP, which Cozens gets in Buffalo?

That alone drops the point totals.

Looking at his usage it's very similar to Namestnikov's, a lot of O-zone starts with poorer defensive results. And similar offensive results. Can't say if that's the player or the system, because I don't watch Buffalo, thank God.

There's obviously a lot of attributes to the player.

But I am just a realist, I don't see Chevy trading any player who is signed here for another player. I can't think of the Jets ever making that kind of trade, other than Kane, for obvious reasons. The Jets dressing room is something that is built with a lot of pieces that have come to fit. It's tight nit.
Maybe that's the problem, I don't know. A lot of GMs will aggressively make changes.

But I like the chemistry that is there between Namestnikov and Chibrikov so far. With Perfetti too.

I see teams with more expendable assets, which the Jets don't necessarily have or want to trade being in a better position here.
Great synopsis. I like adding a D to get Stanley off the ice but want to keep the rest of the group together. Chibrikov has become a strong depth piece now, or is close to it.

You have to believe that everybody who is already here, contributing to success ,will remain here after the deadline.

The Jets are operating different than some teams who are managing Cap Space with musical LTIR (To, Vcr, Sea, give Vegas time too). They have Cap space with which they are expanding the roster, as a result of injury. Sitting at about $3 million now with Ehlers and Samberg out, and players getting opportunity to contribute. That allows them to carry an extra forward and defenseman beyond the 23 player limit.

Of all the big names thrown out there, Bowem Byram is probably the player who would allow Chevy to keep that Cap structure, using existing Cap space, maybe knocks one d-man out of the loop. At the bottom end of the defense that would be Coghlan.

Maybe there isn't a big deal to be made. Seems like Lambert and Salomonsson could be better served in their development with the Jets than with the Moose. But if this is seen by Chevy as the best chance he has with this group, which has a lot of vets who may move on, cashing out on team success, there may be more imperative to add at what are seen as the Jets weakest positions, which isn't clear right now. Maybe the weakest position is a PKing winger, and the solution is Joel Armia. Or if you want to add toughness to the lineup with Stanley not in it, Brandon Tanev. Maybe it's defense. Maybe it's center. Maybe this isn't a playoff built team, plain and simple, which is tough for any GM to admit, when they play well during the regular season.

Rangers and Canucks are probably the next teams to make moves, with a lot more desperatioan in their positions.

Still waiting to see who becomes available in March when the playoff picture is maybe a little clearer.

Mostly indifferent to trading Kovacevic

At this point, I could say "the sky is blue" and you'd come up with "aKsUaLLy..."

You're my first use of the ignore feature. I promised myself I'd never use it, but there's just no point anymore

No one is trading for Armia. He isn’t what he used to be and even mtl fans want him gone.

He has 6 more goals than Nik in the playoffs. And 10 more than Barron. That alone would have some value. I think if you are trading for depth RW is a postion that doesn't have a lot of depth beyond Appleton. Especially in the RHS department.

That he was good during a playoffs several years ago? Once again it depends on the cost as sure take as many shots as you like if they come cheap. Trading a 1st or a second on him would be a mistake.
