It doesn't matter to you that he is poor defensively and gets paid 5.1m for two more seasons after this one?
We just bought out an overpaid 3rd pairing D man and you want to go get another one?
Stay away from Risto Chevy!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing Provorov picked up for the playoffs if the cost wasn't too steep.
Yeah I don't get it either. We're paying a previously similar cap hit player in Schmidt to not play here for a couple years, but let's go get 5m+ Risto to play third pair? So we're back to where we are last year for cap expenditure.

And if it's to cushion a Pionk departure I really hope they go an alternate route than Risto.

I think you go for Nelson or ROR. Going to cost a first and more but it's pretty much a second rounder. I'm sure we are on most no-trade lists but I'm sure most would move it for half a year on the #1 team in the league. ROR still has a couple years though, so who knows. Nashville isn't going to get any better so ROR either wants a shot to finish his career going for a cup or enjoying life in Nashville. He has his cup so maybe he's happy sailing off into the sunset. Who knows.

Any rumours about Toews lately? I would kind of like giving him a shot, considering that Jets are doing so well again lately, even without Lowry. It just seems like it would be cool trying him on the 3rd line with Ehlers and Perfetti, and if that doesn't work out drop him to the 4th, and if that doesn't work scratch him. It just seems quite low risk and high reward, and would just be fun to see. I'd take him over someone like Cozens where there are questions of how much of an upgrade he would be, and also he has a giant long term contract to deal with too if things don't pan out.

Lebrun thinks it's more likely next year that he is ready to play then this year.

Its hard to see any other guys on the market actually being an upgrade on Namestnikov that matters.

ROR at least has term, but if he doesn't want to be here the Jets will likely move on.

Nelson looks like a solid fit but does have some trade protection so he may use it to go to the Isles 2nd or 3rd choice. If they even sell at the deadline.

Maybe we try something different and look harder at a top pair D this year.

Boeser is slow so he's Perfetti 2.0 so you might as well keep Perfetti and hope he continues to improve.

I should not comment because watching players on TV does not tell the whole story. In Chevy we trust.
Boeser scored 40 goals in a season. Perfetti has 40 career goals. It won't take Perfetti to acquire Boeser either so you're not giving him up.

I think there's a chance that either Byram or Dobson could be made available, as RFAs this year, heading into the final restricted years of their contracts. Those could be guys to cash in on the Cap increase. I'd still love to have Byram against Colorado, if that was a matchup.

It will be interesting though to see if Chevy/Arniel would attempt to break up Morrissey/De Melo. That's the longest tenured d pairing in Manitoba.

I'm going to throw Cody Glass's name out again as a depth addition. He's got decent advanced stats. He's 54% on the draw. The one that stands out to me is 4.2 GA/60 on the PK, that's better than any Jets forward in that position except Connor and quite a bit better than Kupari. I think the PKers have been sorted out now to Lowry/Iafallo, Namestnikov/Connor, and Barron when he comes back fits in there, with someone. He's a good skater, which fits the mold.

Plus he's from Winnipeg, be nice to cheer for one of our own.

I cant believe im saying this but im starting to lean towards the "Not really broke so dont fix it" scenario when it comes to our 2C. Having said that i'd be all for adding Brock Nelson or another truly impactful center, but at the moment i think our glaring need is a big strong top 6 d-man.
