We need someone that leads by example. The leadership core on this team is very passive. Kopi is an awesome player but does not play with fire. Doughty yaps but brings nothing to back it up. Byfield is the next in line but not very aggressive and will hug a guy but not fight.
We made a few right moves n bringing in Jeannot and Edmundson to play with that edge and help protect. Helenius when in the ice with Jeannot is effective as well.
Unfortunately there is nothing in our top 9 forwards or top 4 defenders that scare anyone off.
Matthew made Drew and this team his bitch, as does Leon every playoffs. Hell McDavid and Andres Lee have done the same.
Maybe Brownie wasn’t the greatest scorer or Captain but he kept the other team on their toes with massive hits in a top 6 role.
The Caps have Wilson, Ottawa has Brady. Now Colorado plays a skilled game and may not need that type of guy but have a similar guy that may be ready for playoffs.
We are not Colorado and can’t rely on a skilled game. We try and play a tough game but our leadership shy’s away at any type of push back.
Power forwards are almost extinct but if we keep planning on playing a low skilled, grind it out game we need to draft and develop one.
Right now everyone is wanting to see Gavrikov sign which is okay but we should also be getting Tanner’s name in the dotted line. We are a different team when he is on the ice.
I am all for moving a guy like Moore and dropping Laf to the third line as he plays a bigger game.
I am all for re-Signing Kuzmenko if it’s on the cheap.
I would just like to see us trade for someone with snarl and skill who can play a top 6 winger role. Unfortunately not many of them out there.
